Options require a large positive change for good gains but a small negative change will absolutely bury you. Unless the change is violent and in your desired direction, you're fucked. Normal short term volatility will fuck you, and decay will fuck you of you try to hold it. Options are useful as a hedge against rapid movement when you're already positioned.
