Actually, according to the efficient market hypothesis, all publicly traded securities incorporate all public information into their price at any given moment. Prices always reflect the fair value of every security at any given moment in time, and any deviations from that fair price are merely random, as explained in Burton Malkiel's celebrated book "A Random Walk Down Wall Street." Anything you could possibly post here has already been priced in by definition. A consequence of this fact is that all stocks are always fairly priced at any given time and that buying any one stock is just as good as buying any other stock.

BIG NEWS, EVERYONE! Office Depot, Inc. is reorganizing! Office Depot will become a subsidiary of "The ODP Corporation." The ODP Corporation! Wow! That sounds really fancy! We need to revise our price targets upward.

>BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Office Depot, Inc. (“Office Depot” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: ODP), a leading integrated business-to-business distribution platform of business services and supplies, today announced that following the completion of its previously announced feasibility review, its Board of Directors approved proceeding with the implementation of a holding company reorganization. When implemented, Office Depot will become a wholly owned subsidiary of a new holding company, The ODP Corporation, which will replace Office Depot as the public company trading on Nasdaq under Office Depot’s current ticker symbol “ODP”. Existing shares of Office Depot will be automatically converted into shares of common stock of The ODP Corporation.
>The holding company reorganization is intended to simplify the Company’s legal entity and tax structure, more closely align the Company’s operating assets to their respective operating channels within the legal entity structure, and increase its operational flexibility.

>As disclosed in the Company’s definitive proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) on March 26, 2020, if approved by the Company’s shareholders, the Board may decide to implement a reverse stock split substantially concurrently with the consummation of the holding company reorganization. As further described in the Company’s definitive proxy statement, the reverse stock split is not contingent upon the consummation of the holding company reorganization, and the consummation of the holding company reorganization is not a condition to the reverse stock split. Neither the holding company reorganization nor the reverse stock split is expected to result in a change in the directors, executive officers, management or business of Office Depot.
>Subject to obtaining required approvals or any other intervening developments, the consummation of the holding company reorganization is expected to be completed on or about the end of the second quarter of 2020.

the problem comes if LA county cases increase tremendously to where more things get locked down.

California has 3 of the largest ports in the country.. 2 of which are in LA county... so could get a slow down on imports/exports.... the other areas I don't think are too important but there are a lot of areas full of distribution and also areas full of agriculture in ca. I doubt agriculture will be hit but distribution aswell as import/export might.

Not really both XOM and CVX have only spent like 100 million vs 1.5 billion that ENI spent on green energy projects. American oil isn't motivated to really go after green energy projects because they don't get enough returns of those projects and oil has no real effective energy replacements at the moment like those Scandi and Swamp Germans keep pushing for.

A lot of areas are tract homes with huge side yards and back yards....those areas on your map are SO small compared to where people live in the rest of the state and a lot of those areas in red are also pretty spread out. Take hollywood hills for example.. the houses are built on hills far apart from each other.. our geography doesn't really allow for mass density.. you have hills and earth quakes. we are very spread out compared to something like new york VERY... so don't be suprised when california number aren't to high.

A word of advice. Be careful with XOM because although it is a dividend aristocrat it has money issues.

Prior to the oil jihad XOM's debt has only continued to grow while cashflow has decreased meaning that dividend was already unstable. Also factor in that they were spending a lot of money on capex to upgrade their oil extraction and transport infrastructure making them extremely vulnerable as it hasn't fully come online yet.

CVX which has a lot better of a balance sheet but XOM has a lot more reward for a greater risk.

I never imagined XOM has money issues. I didnt even look at their stuff i just assumed they were fine. Might switch to CVS then. IS CVX's dividend similar rate to XOM right now? Im more interested in getting a big stake in a dividened company in oil and gas over reward from risk i suppose. Ill grab tech companies and such for the risk.

Wrong, the efficient market hypothesis is false.

>Most people sitting alone in a room will quickly get out if it starts filling up with smoke. But if two other people in the room seem unperturbed, almost everyone will stay put. That is the result of a famous experiment from the 1960s and its replications — people will sit and nervously look around at their peers for 20 minutes even as the thick smoke starts obscuring their vision.
From https://putanumonit.com/2020/02/27/seeing-the-smoke/amp/

The EMH is false, because the market is made of humans, which neither individually nor collectively take into account all publicly available information.
