There are probably a couple of factors but the simplest way to think about this about shift is because Russia is current fighting the oil war with the Saudis so they can't afford to buy gold while doing this and gold's price has risen from a physical delivery point of view. They have a sizable amount that will get absorbed by the current gold shortage in the West and I am sure they won't mind getting some foreign currencies, after the gold suppliers sell overseas and then into rubles, to help fight the Saudis.

I agree that's definitely something that makes the chans special, which is kinda what got me started on this project. I'm just hoping that it will make for a richer experience for everyone in the long run. A large library like that can provide inspiration for new memes which is always good for everyone. And since this an image board after all the more memes people have access to the better. And traffic wise I probably get 1000 unique hits a day, which is such a small percentage of 4chans daily traffic that I can safely say that this site is still definitely underground. I really only talk about it on biz because that's where I spend the most time. Hence the pink/green wojaks and all the bobos.

Can someone please explain how the Raytheon merger is going to work

RTN is trading at $140. UTX is trading at $90. Under the terms of the merger, RTN shareholders get 2.3:1 shares in the new company. This means for every Raytheon share I own, on Friday it should turn into 2.3 RTU or whatever the new ticker is, right?

1. What happens to fractional shares?
2. The math seems weird, even if the new company traded at the lower price of $90, wouldn't buying Raytheon today turn your $140 share into $180 over two $90 shares? Obviously free money means I did the math wrong, right? Or is buying RTN right now literally free money?

Are the people buying at $4.50 today stupid? According to here, there was over 24 million shares traded, meaning over $100 million.
https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/stocks/amrn/after-hours

What if AMRN isn't able to secure their patent in court? How much is AMRN work with their drug is basically a generic? (Also, can they get a patent in other countries?)

On the other hand, what if AMRN does end up winning in court. Under those circumstances, it seems like it ought to command a higher valuation then whatever it's trading at this afternoon. And further, regardless of whether AMRN will actually succeed in the appeals court, there are people who are hoping it will, meaning that if we buy now, there's a good chance that people will buy our bags at higher price later, before their hopes are dashed upon the rocks of injustice.

>happy because I got my free gibs
Nice. It'll be a few weeks before I receive my leafland gimme gibs. Reason for that is I have to apply for them and have to prove I'm not getting any shifts from work with the form you'd normally use to apply for unemployment. So, work has to process my last paycheque before they can give me the form. And also the leafbux setup for applying for bux won't be online until next week anyway. It's a hassle but the leaf gibs are potentially in excess of the burger equivalent. It's $2000 per month for a maximum of four months if my work is closed down that entire time. Also, student loan payments are frozen interest free until September so that's an extra $300 per month.

let's not make any assumptions here

Either way, they have doctors writing prescriptions for their fish pills right now. They're earning money right now. That isn't going to change until some other drug company gets a working product to market. So they aren't worthless, even with the patent loss, they just won't be making as many fat green bags over the next ten years.
If they somehow get the patent back, it will of course be very good for their valuation.
If it goes down more, I'd have no problem with initiating a small position under $4. Other than that, there are too many other good stocks to buy to sink too much cash into AMRN right now (imo)

>How much is AMRN work with their drug is basically a generic?

I know! I thought of any easy way to approximate a valuation of the company under such circumstances. We can extrapolate a value from similar companies. Now how do we assign a value to AMRN if vascepa is no different from a generic drug? Simple. We just take the market cap of TEVA. That's about the most generic generic drug company around. Now, Teva has a more than $10 billion market cap. A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation based on today's after-hours trading session yields a new market cap for AMRN of about $1.5 billion. If AMRN realizes it's full potential as a generic drug company, it should command a similar market cap to TEVA, meaning that the share price could increase more than 6 times from today's prices.

I'm more interested in it as a speculative bet that the price will go up over the short term. If people decide that today's sell-off was overdone, then the price could easily go up by a non-trivial amount. Why, just a $0.50 increase would be a more than 10% increase from after-hours trading! It would be almost exciting as holding SNSS and watching it go up a nickel.

I don't imagine he's made enough on that to quit his day job yet, but he probably did better than he would holding AMRN today, which would probably be something like a -70% return on his initial investment. But that aside, all of this talk of "patents" and "laws" is really just noise anyway. The buyout is coming, and AMRN is going to command at least $30 per share at a MINIMUM. Then I'll be able to take my fat green bags and finally quit my job.
