So let me get this straight, there is a virus out that that is essentially a common cold. We now also know that we have a large supply of existing drugs that help cure it. So why is anyone scared of this? Looks like the markets figured out the corona-hoax was BS. Its time to get the bull market started.

why do people get so triggered about comparing COVID-19 to a cold/SARS/MERS?

They're all coronaviruses and COVID-19 has "approximately 70% genetic similarity to the SARS-CoV". COVID-19 seems to be much more contagious but that doesn't mean the virus itself is that different. If you think COVID-19 is some killer deadly disease and there's never been anything else like it in history, you're fucking stupid and should shut the fuck up. I mean it's literally named "COVID-19" to identify it from all the other coronaviruses in existence.

Because it's multiple times more infectious and deadly than anything it ever gets compared to.

And again, the issue isn't that it can kill people. The issue is that it can land perfectly healthy people in the ICU for weeks - let alone 40% of the US population who's overweight and already runs out of breath pushing a shopping cart around wal mart. The real problem is sending tens of millions of people into the hospital all at once.

The US loses 30,000 people annually to flu
The world loses 500,000
We currently have 3000 US deaths from corona
And 37,000 globally
These deaths are nearly all elderly people with already limited life expectancy
Countries which practice little to no "social distancing" are experiencing the same rates of infection as those shutting down economies
It appears the only thing that matters is disease proximity to Hubei and age of population

China had peak incidence and recovery within three months
New cases and deaths in Italy are already declining
Washington state and New York are already declining in their rate of rise and most US states are nearly unaffected

If we don't start seeing at least 50x the daily incident disease rate and death rate we're currently seeing it's not even as important an illness as the flu

The normal, seasonal, non-pandemic flu
That nobody even thinks about

What we are witnessing is a global coup by elites to implement a new world order where they will rule unopposed. While Coronavirus exists it affects only elderly and is a bit more virulent form of flu.The hysteria blown by the mass media and social media agents served to justify extreme measures like lockdown which will NEVER be revoked and will stay with us.
Further measures will include:

Compulsory vaccinations-said vaccines will lower test among certain groups and lead to sterilisation. Scientists will decree that it was a price worth paying and white people were violent anyway.

Digital currency-all your money will stored online and controlled by authorities. As will your expenses and where you are spending money.

Digital ID-to use internet you will need to use a digital id confirming your real life identity. Anonymous posting and usage of internet will be banned in name of fight against "fake news about coronavirus". Without record of your vaccinations in the digital id employers won't hire you and you will be banned from travelling and public spaces. All non-state and non-corporate crypto currencies will be banned.

Carbon Tax-it will be used to stop you from eating meat such as beef to prevent you from having strong body and mind

Ban on growing your own food-in order to make you dependant on toxic shit you will be only be able to buy online.

Ban on free speech-speaking about or doubting coronavirus pandemic hoax will be punishable by prison and cutoff from public services

Spread the word, look behind motives. Do not believe what media tell you.

From Ireland, can also confirm that the vast majority of deaths reported here are in nursing homes. Surprise there that people in their advanced age and unable to look after themselves succumb to the virus, especially without a vaccine. The level of care in these places is also shit tier, nurses giving Alzheimer's patients seizures from insulin injections and lots of unqualified 'carers' walking around who haven't a clue what they're doing. The told me my grandmother was 'actively dying'. Came to see her and it was clear they were giving her way too much morphine. Tell them to switch it out for other pain medication and she recovers.

Funny you'd bring up Glenn Beck, here's what he was saying about 6 years ago.

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2014/oct/16/glenn-beck/beck-warns-massive-mutations-ebola-virus/

>The prospect of wholesale economic and social collapse exerts a peculiar magnetism on some people. The fight against the Ebola virus is custom-made for such speculations and conservative radio host Glenn Beck raised them in full during the Oct. 15 broadcast of his radio show.
>Beck envisioned fearful Americans avoiding trips to the mall, leading to a downward spiral in consumer spending. Although to date, the virus has only been known to be transmitted by contact with the bodily fluids of one infected person, Beck said that would change.
>"Think of this America, please think of this," Beck said. "Every time somebody new gets the Ebola virus, it mutates. It's going to go aerosol."

https://www.theblaze.com/glenn-radio/here-are-5-reasons-why-its-not-insane-to-worry-about-an-ebola-outbreak-on-us-soil
> In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the confirmed cases of Ebola have exceeded 2000, with nearly 1400 of those cases resulting in death. This puts the fatality ratio for the virus at 67 percent, according to the World Health Organization.
>Glenn explained that Ebola is particularly difficult to diagnose, in part because the virus has a 21 day incubation period, and there are no mandatory screenings, quarantines, or detention before illegal immigrants are released into communities.
>"But why worry," he added. "That's going to be called hateful. That's going to be called fear-mongering. That's going to be called everything other than what it is: a truthful look at the facts, and a warning that ... we should be screening for Ebola and we have a problem on the border. This is a catastrophe of global significance just waiting to happen."

I swear this plague was sent by God himself to expose their hypocrisy.

https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-similarities-and-differences-covid-19-and-influenza
>The serial interval for COVID-19 virus is estimated to be 5-6 days, while for influenza virus, the serial interval is 3 days. This means that influenza can spread faster than COVID-19.
>Further, transmission in the first 3-5 days of illness, or potentially pre-symptomatic transmission –transmission of the virus before the appearance of symptoms – is a major driver of transmission for influenza. In contrast, while we are learning that there are people who can shed COVID-19 virus 24-48 hours prior to symptom onset, at present, this does not appear to be a major driver of transmission.
>The reproductive number – the number of secondary infections generated from one infected individual – is understood to be between 2 and 2.5 for COVID-19 virus, higher than for influenza. However, estimates for both COVID-19 and influenza viruses are very context and time-specific, making direct comparisons more difficult.
Not sure how you define more infectious. If you're basing it on the last point above, then yeah. It seems like a mixed bag though in terms of comparisons with the flu.

>ten times deadlier
I don't believe we know enough to say this yet. It seems likely to be less than this. We don't know how many people are out there have had it with mild or no symptoms. Plus deaths are overestimated because everyone who tests positive is classes as a "COVID" death even if they didn't die because of it.

Corona virus is BS, shorted anyway, exited way too early... Market will spike up tomorrow at open to at least DOW 23,000. Only half sure the correction is over though. The point is, why are they overhyping this? Why are we all locked up? They can fudge those fake numbers in either direction and keep this quarantine going as long as they want. The power is in their hands, and we are not out of 1929 territory just yet.

there are also a lot of old people afraid to go to hospital, even when they have other serious symptoms for fear of the virus. it's a bit different in the countryside here in that at least people will check up on the neighbours and help them out. Feels bad to think of old people in cities. Also operations being postponed, I'm sure people will also die because of that alone.

Yes cause that's what you need to do when there's a virus being passed around, touch all of your neighbour's stuff and be sure to give him a nice firm handshake.

The Eurozone barely "survived" 2008 how the fuck do you propose the economy to recover from a 3+ month shutdown ? Another round of 10+ years of QE ? Drop interst rates completely into the negative and basically dispossess the middle class ? Depending on how long this goes on the economic fallout of these measures will certainly end the EU as we know it.

>In another black day, Bergamo mourns 195 new deaths from coronavirus
Bergamo is a province with just 1 million people, they have 8000 confirmed cases and 1600 deaths so far.
Even if you believe half those deaths are not really covid deaths it's an insane number of deaths for such a small province
Meanwhile Lombardy (10 million people) had another 2400 new cases and 540 new deaths, 5400 deaths total (I'm rounding *down* most of these numbers for speed.)
How many deaths do you think Lombardy normally has in a day, in a month? Because practically all of those deaths are from this month.

by the way I actually looked it up, Lombardy has just about 100k deaths per year (99k in 2018)
You don't even need a calculator for this, that's less than 10k deaths per month. And they've had 5k deaths with covid-19 this month.
So very quick math says half the deaths this month in Lombardy tested positive.

bruh remember last week when you were downplaying the virus because it had less than a thousand deaths in the US, and now that the number tripled in just a few days, you still think it's a nothingburger?

>> No.18192579

If you bin the deaths by year and look back on it in a few years, this year will likely not even be a blip (obviously you are correct when you refer to the monthly significance). Because it's almost all old, sick people who were going to die anyway.

inb4 let's kill everyone because we're all going to die anyway

My point is, if you want to minimize the number of years of life lost, it's very questionable that shutting down the entire economy is the best choice.

That is actually an interesting argument. Coronavirus is mainly accelerating the deaths of people with few QALY left anyway, it might even be significantly decreasing the death rate of future years by preemptively removing them, so it's not as bad as it might look and you can consider the economic tradeoffs from that perspective, sure.
I have no issue with that analysis (besides that the hospitalization and death rates are exploding and overwhelming the healthcare and funerary systems.)
If it was the sort of argument I saw posted usually I wouldn't have to explain over and over why it's not a nothingburger.

2000? Why are we freaking out over 10,000 deaths? I can't believe they shutdown everything over 30,000 dead people. It's just 100,000 deaths, get a grip you pussies. 500,000 people aren't worth trashing our GDP for half a year. Who cares about 2,000,000 dead in shithole countries? You'll feel really silly when this is all over with just 30,000,000 people dead. Anyway more people were born this year than the 100,000,000 who died, it's nothing.

Yup, that’s the strat. Gimp the economy for an indefinite period as wave after of wave after wave of casualties pile up hoping that each successive wave won’t overwhelm the system. Might drop the casualty rate by maybe 10-20%.
