When will you LOSER bears realize that it's priced in?

>> No.18183723

Is there any validity to journaling if you're a trader? I feel like it's a HUGE waste of time. Time I'm spending journaling is time I'm not watching price action, reading about trading, watching videos on trading, thinking about trading, etc. It feels like a big exercise in trying to LOOK like you take the process seriously and generate additional workflow for yourself, but it's ultimately of minimal value for the amount of time it consumes compared to other stuff you could be doing.

I've journaled for a little while so I gave it a fair chance, but it feels like I'm just growing out of it and it's more trouble than its worth compared to just focusing on my process goals and refining my actual trading. It feels like an activity you do if your goal is to be a writer and maybe write a trading book with a bunch of "clever" little insights, but it doesn't feel like it's actually making me a better trader. I certainly could write a trading book at this point thanks to my journaling, but that isn't, nor was it ever the goal.

I feel like journaling is pretty much a meme. Agree/disagree?

Basically keeping a log of how you were feeling at different points during the trading day, what you were seeing before you got into a trade, why you got in, why you got out, any major takeaways or issues you detected. Shit like that. I feel like it hyper focuses you on minutiae that really doesn't count for jack shit and it puts you into a frame of mind that distracts from the actual process of getting better. It's like if you were a lifter, rather than concerning yourself about diet, form, rest days, optimal routines, and stuff like that, you're sitting in the gym lifting for an hour, then proceeding to journal for 2 hours about which lifts you like, dislike, ways to improve, and all of that.

Rather than you know, actually working on improving. It's like when you take the concept of journaling as it's advocated in trading and try to apply it to like anything outside of trading, you almost immediately would be like "why in the fuck would you ever waste you time doing that? just lift more, eat more, read more about how to lift more efficiently and so on." This shit wasn't my idea, but you hear it repeated by places like SMB Capital and some other traders out there in interviews that you almost have to give it a try, but it just seems like nonsense. Very "Laws of Attraction" type vibes from it and again, after giving it a very fair chance, if I'm brutally honest, I don't see the value in it compared to alternatives.

ALSO: CHINESE CENTRAL BANK injected money into the global marketplace and cut reverse repo rates which has a stimulative effects.

Plus it looks like I’m only allotted 25 shares at an 11 dollar premium? I went ahead and tried to sell my contract at 15 dollars a share, but it’s looking like I’ll have to let it shake out till it’s expiration date (4/9).

I'm pretty confident in my trading and I have a handful of setups, but I have them memorized or noted down somewhere, or use a more ideal format for documenting them like actually taking a picture of a marked up chart. I keep stats on my trades and examine them with a third party website. The journal has pretty much just been an exercise in "why did you take the trade? what could you have done better? how are you feeling before, during, after the trade?" and crap like that which either ends up getting covered when I actually review the trade on the chart or doesn't really need to get covered in the first place. I've written a ton, but at a certain point you need to look behind you and ask "why?" and in general I'm always looking to eliminate excess and journaling feels like excess.
>>18183914
This makes sense. I work on 2 or 3 process oriented goals at a time based on some element of my trading that I want to improve. Not setting too many goals at once, setting well defined process goals, and actually patiently hammering them out I would in fact credit as some things that have helped with my improvement. My psychology has always been at least "okay" and has improved even more so with regards to trading, but again, that has more to do with experience and becoming more confident and probably a lot more to do with reading actual psychology and performance related books than journaling how pissed I am when I get shaken out of a trade.

I think the verdict seems that it's non-essential.
