When the System works, there are more convenient ways of transacting than using gold itself. However, you can always go to a coin shop or call up a bullion dealer to sell your gold for fiat money, which you can then use for transactions. When the System goes to all hell, gold will be accepted for things as "good money" becomes rare. Gold has tremendous liquidity in this scenario. You need only look at Zimbabwe in the 2000s to see the reality. No one willing accepted Zimbabwe dollars and things that were needed could only be found with harder currency: USD, Euros, or gold.

Greenspan, earlier in his life before he became Fed chairman, seemed to be a proponent of hard money. Read his paper on gold. As he said even in 2014, "Gold is a currency. It is still, by all evidence, a premier currency, where no fiat currency, including the dollar, can match it."

There's a reason why most central banks have a stash of gold and a lot of central banks have been buying gold in the past decade.

State pension fund linked hedge fun analyst team member here. Gold will collapse.

Commodities are not part of my personal area but I know we've been fighting over the precious metal problem for a while. Let me explain. This idea is not exactly new, it's been an ongoing topic for the whole post MBS crisis era when we wanted to make a complete makeshift of hedging strategies related to precious metals. However, back in those days the topic was merely about the long term trends. Due to the shock of COVID-19 we gave started to fear a sudden loss of value.

It's been an ongoing topic for a while and we've got hundred pages of strictly confidential in house research outputs related to this. Due to the recent crisis, new outsourced piecewise research outputs of consulting companies are starting to come every week. Next week we are receiving a fuckton of gold utility prospects related to semiconductor manufacturing from a tech consultancy company specialising in materials science. All fast tracked: Probably the most expensive investigation we've ever bought.

Can't go to details, but here are the obvious ones you can to some extent confirm from public sources:
>Gold has a marginal utility value
>Utility value has gone down
>Gold has been a bad hedge against inflation since the 70's
>Gold vs equity inverse correlation is a retarded urban legend of investing
>Gold is terribly overvalued, one of the biggest bubbles of our lifetime.
>Gold perceived value is emotionally attached to the gold standard era, and there used to be a reasons for central banks to hoard gold during fiat era, but not so much anymore
>In fact, OPEC central banks have been getting rid of their reserves for the past 10 years. Only poor countries are actively hoarding gold anymore.
>Amount of gold owned by the central banks is, while marginal compared to the paper gold house of cards in circulation, it is larger than publicly reported due to the reserves being outsources to third parties.

>> No.18161283

So far, pretty obvious. Now comes COVID-19. We have already seen the biggest financial stimulus packages that go to the absolute limits of national banks. Meanwhile, central bank reserves are still on massive level and gold price is beyond ridiculous. Where do you think they are going to go for added liquidity? This might be the trigger.

What breaks the bone will be the moment when the common emotion based perception of gold as safe haven collapses. We have already seen the gold shake value together with the stocks proving it's fragility.

Of course we are aware of the doomers hoarding all the physical gold they can in fear of collapse of fiat system. This is marginal level penny trade and is not likely to continue for too long. We actually estimated the fed & ecb emergency measures to cause a much bigger and longer lasting spikes in gold price. But again, these are merely disposable emotion triggers. From now on we may seen 0% interest rates to trigger another jump, but after that it is just belief in the superiority of gold as inflation hedge - meme.

Tldr: We want to get rid of gold dominance in our hedging and commodity investment strategy because it's a house of cards that could collapse any time when the emotion based value perception is collapsed and/or when central banks start selloffs.

Gotta go work

For a 50% return on investment 1,703,000 kg (54,750,000 ozt) of platinum would have to be extracted for every 11,350,000 tons of asteroid ore. This analysis assumes that doubling the supply of platinum to the market (5.13 million ounces in 2014) would have no effect on the price of platinum. A more realistic assumption is that increasing the supply by this amount would reduce the price 30–50%

so TLDR:
in an hyperinflation scenario:
> gold is a boomer meme from the golden ages of history, cannot ne trusted on the spot, need to phisically go to bullion catberts to be converted in currency
> if electricity will be available, btc/ crytpo will pay groceries via swap apps (people love to receive btc, hate spending it), like in Venezuela
> gold can be confiscated, in China it's not illegal to hold btc/crypto but to visit exchanges (and torrents aren't stopped), I guess the grimest future will be the same
> if no electricity will be available, economy just stops, it's a Kenshiro scenario, better to move to some nice countryside, farming inside preppers' citadel

From Godot&Fils, a reputable french seller, i'm not worried, my maxi bar will be legit. The bar costed me a lil less than 5K€ (15.30€/oz), a true bargain considering maples or AES are 30€/oz.. But probably a bit trickier to sell.

Stay away from Ebay as much as possible unless buying from an actual mint or known retailer account. Too much Aliexpress knock off shit floating around that scam site these days.

this is normally the go to,but they aren't updated it quickly enough. I've been refreshing goldeneaglecoin, monumentmetals, sdbullion etc and finding better deals than findbullionprices, but they don't last long so you have to jump right on them.
