Someone needs to put OSRS on a ledger. I'm only a fledgling amateur developer, probably above my level, but I imagine one could hash the gamestate, and at set intervals you and the server could both sign the state and submit it to the ledger for safe storage. Rare items like p-hats could be unique items represented by NFTs, which drop at predetermined dates, maybe twice a year starting with blue phats, then the next color, etc. which would give a few years to distribute the drops. One could also use the ledger to authenticate users to prevent botting by checking every few minutes that they have X amount of coins in their wallet, proving real skin in the game, and maybe have an experience difficulty multiplier where more skin in the ledger makes it easier to level up, thereby eliminating the bot farming problems that plagued OSRS. If we could have something like that, every NEET on /biz/ who gets all the rare drops would probably become a millionaire

If you've never played it, how do you know its boring? Indeed it is not like other games because most tasks are passive or grindy, but if you are autistic there is a certain satisfaction in doing those repetitive tasks. Besides that, the medieval fantasy setting is really well done and immersive. The graphics are janky but so charming that its not even a detractor. The dialogue has depth and is usually pretty funny.

I only started OSRS a few months ago and I enjoy it. I also have met tons of players who are underage so not there for nostalgia. Its a legitimately good game just not for everybody.

Unironically, ye. But for the high level moneymakers you need to set up your account properly which takes hundreds of hours. 1 mill/hour atm is 1.70$ an hour. The higher level moneymakers are around 4-5 mill per hour, depending on luck. So yes you could play runescape all day making a decent wage especially if you live in a poor country
