Nothing really until 5am Sunday Morning. If it is still red, markets will crash.

Crypto unironically is a really good way of measuring the true sentiment of the global markets, the red-er crypto is, the worse the market sentiment is.

If you think about it the FED, nor any government, “pumps” bitcoin, so you can use it as a true signal of how the global market is doing.

One thing to consider anon is IMO 2020. This is essentially fuel regulations for tanker and cargo ships that requires the fuel to be low sulfur. If oil would haven’t dropped off a cliff then we may have seen a price squeeze with the ships basically having to run on diesel instead of bunker fuel but the regs were suspended with corona.

Ships that are missed sailings due to the virus may be in the process of having their fuel systems upgraded but you could potentially see decreased storage capacity as the tankers are being retrofitted down the line

Death tolls will rise, a lot.
Fed has done a lot lately but it will not be enough.
They will have to expand their mandate to be able to continue in order to buy corporate bonds, and worst yet junk bonds. This will take congressional approval which hasn't even begun to be talked about yet.
Nobody has fully appreciated the duration or impact of this shutdown yet.
The dead cat bounce is over. It's gonna be a lot more pain next week.
V shaped recovery bulls are idiots that cannot appreciate what is really happening.

S&P, 10y bonds and the dollar are the big 3 to get a general sense of what's going on in the markets. This week, the dollar and stocks were highly correlated. The dollar lost about 1/2 it's gains while the stock market shot up. I see that breaking down somewhat from here. It was a panic in one direction and now we got the unwind. But while all this was happening, bonds, a gigantic market, were mostly steady while the fed was buying up debt like crazy. So I don't think they've reached some comfortable range and we could be looking at a(nother) big move. And if they start making big moves so do lots of other things. And the chart looks like it's ready to move.

For the past 10 years, probably the entire investing life of some people here, they have always "bought the dip". And it has always worked.

From my understanding, the big boys had to re-balance this week after their big sell-offs earlier this month. Considering how much shit is hitting the fan and the fact that this is speculated to have initiated somewhere between Feb. and Sept. last year I'm projecting continued downward spiraling. Someone pointed out that Trump and his Cabinet of Horrors might be attempting to manipulate the public with a "rally 'round the flag" and I don't doubt it one bit considering the happenings as of late.

The grim reality of it all is they're injecting huge amounts of cash, the fed is buying assets at an unprecedented rate while also offering relief with QE (which they're talking about pushing into phase 4) and throwing cash to the general public who are now partially incentivized to be unemployed, which is going to detriment the dollar. This I strongly suspect is to undermine the increasing strength of the dollar to stabilize it as the standard, but to the direct detriment of the American public.

Then you've got a bunch of corporations that shit out a bunch of bonds bought out by banks and hedge funds (a la the '08 crisis) who are verging on getting a credit downgrade, which is going to be a shitshow. Top that off with all this temporally displaced income. People either getting laid off, shitcanned, or worse: furloughed. Consumption drops, rent payments dry up, CC bills go unpaid, and suddenly everyone in the consumer-commercial sectors is shitting all over themselves in a panic because they're late on their term loans.

I'm not going to say it's going to drop like a roller coaster, but it's going to go much further down before it goes much further up, I suspect.

>but it's going to go much further down before it goes much further up, I suspect.
I'll just give a few thoughts on the overall picture of the recent s&p.
I think every single weak long is out by now. We can separate the down move into two groups. the earlier dip buyers and the second group where we starting getting big players covering shorts and buying in. I would say it's slightly down to neutrally set up right now, but that's mostly because of the speed of the move off the low. I think they could push it all the way to the 3000s. There recent buyers start taking profits, long term investors get close enough back to even and the real economic damage isn't going to show up immediately because the numbers are just one offs for now.

Alright I’m about ready to pull out of the market Monday. After hours today I bought some bear stocks in Dow nasdaq and s&p and if the market is green I’ll just walk away. Not really a huge bear but this weekend is just going to be catastrophic in terms of death and mayhem from the virus and if it doesn’t push the market down and show the 15 day thing to be the fantasy it is I’m going to stop trying to make money in this rigged game.

If a move up to 3000 happens it must be done extremely fast. As fake as the market may be big players can't ride the next leg down if they keep pushing up on bad news and confusing the masses. The more detached from reality this gets the harder it will be to cause euphoria and panic to the average person when they'll want to make the big moves.

the saying "better time in the market than timing the market" only applies to people that don't pay attention, those that just want to put money in and have more money in 10 years

but if you're one of those that want to pay attention you can make a lot more by selling when you're "enough" green in one stock and then buy two other stocks that recently dropped and that you believe will recover.

maybe i didn't really answer your question but investing without paying attention seems like a bad idea in the current market.
