As I understand it - and the final bill has not been published, everything is based on the bill before the Senate voted and the House arguing about it yesterday - you need to be on file at the IRS to get a direct deposit with the IRS, they're using direct deposit to get the funds out fast. Physical checks will be significantly longer, and you can claim this tax credit later when you file next year, if you didn't claim it now.

NEETs are dumb,m so we have to explain it to them like they're five - this isn't "free money" being thrown at you from a stack of cash. This is a one time tax credit against your 2020 taxes, using 2019 as a basis to determine your AGI for 2020. ie. "You made 50k in 2019, so we assume you'll make around the same amount in 2020." There are provisions that if you significantly change your income in 2020, and get the stimulus payout, you'll have to return it.
To get this, you have to be a taxpayer, on record, and the IRS has your bank info. If you don't, you don't exist to them, and this is moving too fast to hold your hand to get you your free chicken tendies fund, so you'll have to get off your ass and file something, or wait for April 2021 to claim it.
Unless mommy and daddy claim you, then you don't get shit, and they get $500 to pay for your slacking ass.
