Nah, these kinds of graphic take only the "economicaly viable resources" as a number, but economicaly viable at today's pricr. As the suply dries, the price goes up and thus we have access to the reserve that weren't before viable.

"But muh one day the reserves will be depleted too !"

True, but higher cost of products means more incentive to explore for new deposit, thus raising the resources and reserve even more. But recycling and not waisting is definitlty key. Lots of money to be made in recycling in the decades to come.

yeah. but what about energetically viable?

there's a shit ton of oil reserve that's going to be left in the ground. simple reason: conventional oil had an EROI of roughly 50:1. oil sands have 5-8:1.

society is going to decide that there's better uses for the oil than digging up gold ore. or it's going to be available but a horrendous price to account for declining energy availability.

additionally in the last 10 years exploration spending exploded. yet we haven't found anything of note. face it. hubbert's curve applies to all non renewable natural resources.

1. discovery peaks
2. utilization peaks
3. skyrocketing prices

people hate commodities. buy low, sell high.

Oil and metals are two separate things mah man.

Oil will run out one day, hopefully other techs will get us energy before that.

As I was talking about metals, we'll never run out. Check the chemical composition of 1 cubic meter of dirt in your garden : you have the entire periodic table there. Of course, it's not industrially processible (yet ?), that's why we try to find a more concentrated deposit before digging the less concentrated ones.

Back to the oil peak, i've been hearing that we were past the oil peak since 1990's. Still hasn't happened, because we keep discovering new sources. But dont get we wrong, oil and gas will run out one day, hopefully we have transitionned our energy producing before because we need that oil for the chemistry industry as well (plastic and pharma mainly).

I do my own prospecting as a full time business, i am thinking of investing in a Shaw portable core drill and a bunch of new gear this season because the silver / gold markets are going to go insane soon and I need to start proving up my hard rock claims. I have two properties I want to sell off this year to get some cash going, but i need to drill deeper than i can with what I have.

it really is, i spend all winter cooped up in my office looking at mineral titles and magnetic maps. Than all summer involves me driving around the province sampling, digging holes camping, hanging out with tree planters. Best feeling on earth is finding a nice new road cut with a quartz vein, visible gold just sitting there, and its not staked yet.

if your in the right area you can actually do fairly well just sniping around in bedrock. It takes a bit of reading and learning to figure out where to look but thats part of the fun. Some days when I am working I ll end up doing 60 pans a day just checking little creeks here or there for signs of minerals.

its the same here, rules are the same everywhere honestly. Gold is heavy and wants to settle where ever it looses energy in creek flow. Look in bedrock cracks, fissures and mosses on shore. anywhere the current sharply slows down, behind and under large rocks as well.

preserve your wealth. you won't be rich but not poor either. just a man with some currency/wealth and not some pink wojack anally raped by hyperinflation. you'll be able to buy stuff when others can't. you'll be in pole position when the dust slowly settle and assets are available for everyone and business opportunities rise. we will hopefully enter a new era. a time when not every busniess and every job is outsourced to asia. the downfall of western civilization could happen because the greed sat on the throne. every country could aquire the cash flows (from jobs and businesses outsourced) because it the sold its people's labour cheaper. imagine a tick that sucks your blood out and pumps poisonous gastric juice in. e.g. shoemakers were usually not that rich but could afford a living. nowadays a shoemaker is making minimum wage at best or has to be manufacturing highly priced, exclusive products only rich folks can afford. that's sick. let's hope for a correction.

under normal cirumstances, either
>by going to the big brokers in the OP links, and ordering from them
>by findig physical shops where these commodities are bought and sold (usually near your town's synagogue)
the problem is that the big brokers are saying they have "too many orders" and your order will take 15+ business days to get shipped, which gives them enough time to find an excuse to keep your money if shit hits the fan, and the gentlemen with the funny hats have closed their shops "amid the outbreak of COVID-19"

Hey mate I've got one and used it in Australia, ive only used it once because im busy with another project but It struggles if you run into any clay which i happened to run into almost straight away.

Im planning to get it up and running again soon but my advice is,
-bring plenty of water, the water pump drains it in about 2 mins
-setup a pvc collar and recirculation system, with a small filter for dirt
-look into drilling fluids, apparently there are commercial fluids designed to stop clay from sticking
-anti sieze grease on the bit thread, mine ended up siezing on and I broke a bit trying to get it off. Also find a dowel or something to put inside the drill tube because i ended up crushing the tube a bit as well.

They're a good little setup for the price and right scenario but im thinking next time id rather just save up the money and get an old rab/aircore rig on finance and fix it up, the proper motor has the power to get out of bogs and jams
