I switched back and forth between calls and puts 7 times during the day. I hold, usually, no more than an hour or so at a time. Buying 3/25 expiration.

I watch the ticker basically nonstop and switch positions once it stalls out in a movement for a long enough time. 1% moves up and down, when you're buying 200 options at 150k, generate ~$30k a pop.

Days like today are actually absolute goldmines for day trading, since if you buy too early you can just wait for the momentum to reverse and get out with a minimal loss, or even a tiny gain. The sideways movement today let me have my best day yet - here's my 1 day portfolio view.

I don't know myself, I don't hold anything overnight. I usually reverse whatever the open is at first. For example today we opened with a slip down. At the stall point, I bought in calls to reverse it and sold when it stalled again. If you look at the past week, whatever happens at open is usually pretty directly reversed after it stalls. I never try to catch falling knives - if it's already moving hard in one direction and I'm not in, I stay out until it stalls.

Those are all small in revenue (except capital, but thats kind of a different beast). GE mostly makes money through leasing the brand, they don't actually make lights. Renewable is basically an offshoot of power + aviation for wind turbines. And digital has floundered for years, mostly used as a resources for other branches. This is ignoring their still massive debt and collapsing pensions, and other skeletons. Its true that they sold off basically everything that wasn't profitable and Culp does well, and they were coming back, but after this? It will be even harder. GE collapsed like a house of cards during one of the great bullruns in history, but now we might be in a depression, what will happen? Even though I have a position I can work from home for, even I'm getting a little worried.

Is it safe to hold SDOW and the others for a few days at a time? I'm thinking buy Tuesday closing assuming it's green and hold until Friday. But I've heard they get revalued daily so I'm not really sure how to use them.

I'm no so sure. Some of this should be priced in before then. I wouldn't be surprised if we open green, like 4%, and then dump end of day to another -3%.

Trump is mulling ending social distancing, which will be an unmitigated humanitarian and economic disaster. There will be looting and riots (although, the alternative is lockdown, which also might cause looting and riots). Thursday has the jobs numbers, and every day has more earnings numbers (and more Trump speeches).

Question:
Why is no one bringing up the fact that just based on current testing and deaths, this has a global 4% mortality rate? Thats like insanely high for such a contagious disease.

Basically because of the market volatility, he's betting that when SQQQ goes below 24 there will be a probable red day coming up so he can sell for profit. To be honest these last couple of weeks its been somewhat viable if you're able to guess the next day being red/green

Even if we assume 4 times more infected (thats over ONE MILLION) its still 1%. Does anything this contagious even come close to that? Even if only half the US is infected, thats 2 MILLION dead. Thats a small city, thats like if everyone in Chicago just died. There may be thousands of deaths in New York city next week, maybe even by Friday.

Put simply if this lasts 12 or 18 months we're fucked. The supply lines would be down. The manufacturing of goods would be non existent cause of lack of bodies to do the work. The Govt would be fucked long before then cause congress would be unable to do it's job due to lack of members. (There's no such thing as "work from home" in the constitution)

no one knows. We were over-due for a recession, but perhaps this virus allowed the market to let off enough steam. Like many others on here I am a depressed bear. I feel like the market should go down much further, and that it's fucked up how it waddles sometimes, or that now (as of 10:50PM eastern time) the futures are up..see pic. I'm currently holding SQQQ calls, but I'm a little scared it will fuck me, especially if they pass the trillions in aid in the next day or two. But will that actually save the day? Then again, the covid is mostly a joke, imho. Most of those who die from it would have died from something else...its obvious. So the question is: how long will businesses buy into being hyper cautious? And when will people buy stonks again, and how quickly will it go back up to the overbought levels we had just 35 days ago?

Yeah I was on it like 5 years ago. We had to go to 1 seminar where they told us we had to look for 5 jobs a week a fill out a form which had to be turned in if they ever asked. They never did ask for it so I got $1600 a month for 2 months for free. Get my last check on the 1st so after that I'm going to apply again and cruise NEET style for a few months.

Many might have no choice despite Trump's insistence on getting back to normal after the 15 day period is up. State governors will keep people sheltered in place and working remotely while the case count continues to rise, and with two of the most populous states (California and New York) having high case rates that will affect the economy for a while. IMO the bump you see in pre-market trading and possibly over the course of 3/24 will just be a typical reaction to a large drop the previous day, but it will be temporary and continue to fall in the days to come
