I wouldn't put too much faith in medical research and rushed trials like this. I'm betting the effects are low, the p-values are cherry picked, and none of them realize that correlation is not even correlation. Remember that the vast majority of people who get this disease get better on their own anyway, so the drug we need is one that takes someone already in the hospital with life threatening breathing problems and within 24-48 hours gets them breathing well enough to get OUT of the hospital and go back home.

I expect Taleb will start tearing their articles' math apart as soon as it starts getting posted online. Be BEARISH on news about cures or treatments.

You know what it's like to look at a really poorly managed company and think

executives that can manage a fine, profitable company into the dirt, that kind of thing.

That's the kind of mis-management I see from the US government this year. It feels appallingly bad. They went with the worst possible combination of pretending things were fine and not shutting anything down until the virus was already spreading out of control, and THEN they chose to basically hit the "Economy Self-Destruct Button" by choice. It won't change the actual number of people who get the virus in any significant way, all it will do is cause more poverty and unemployment and bailouts, which means people dying more from all kinds of conditions because they can't afford healthcare.
It's a mess and it's entirely because of poor response. If we were going to ride the nothingburger train, we should have stayed on the nothingburger train to the end, not jump onto the happening train mid-way.

Before things went to hell He was pushing almost 40 a share all while still pushing a fat divvy and yield of over 5.2%. Yes DIS is cheap and I've bought more but let us be real, the yield is low, even now it's just barely past 2%. Not knocking DIS at all, I like them both as a mater of fact. So bag them both and sit back and wait. When your 65 you'll be setup quite nice.

Cruising is enjoyable and relatively inexpensive compared to many kinds of vacation. But shitty destinations, extra days at sea to pad out the casino and reduce docking expenses, garbage buffets (on some liners which are more boomer oriented), and a reliance on scam shit like "art", the shops, and the dozens of businesses at port which are actually owned by the liners, are going to kill them in the long term if coronachan doesn't. The younger generations don't want elaborate sit down meals. They don't want to sit in a musty casino and blow money they actually worked hard for, and they're not going to fall for your fucking Peter Max scams. What they want is good buffet food available through the day, and a token selection available 24 hours. They want more days at port at the destination, a cruise director who doesn't talk to them like children, more than two styles of club (boomer and high energy boomer), a real TV you can plug shit into in the cabin (seriously, why can't you just change the input), and internet that isn't a joke. They want to go to actually interesting places. Their first trip to the Caribbean will show them it's fake as fuck, and they'll never cruise again. Millennials prize novelty and experiences. If they think they got experience equivalent of airplane food, they're going to be really salty.
I see NCLH as being better positioned for the pivot. RCL has a shot, but they've been leaning hard into boomers for a long time. CCL has had a history of environmental flubs which could turn off many younger people who see dumping oil and plastic into the ocean as wrong. Their subsidiary Holland America is specifically oriented towards the elderly, not a good position.
All in all, cruise lines are high risk. The prices look nice, but any of them could capsize. They'll all need to pivot into a new market, and they're going to be short on cash for years. None will be building new ships any time soon. Place your bets wisely.

I was excited for the cut rate prices too but read up on previous crashes. The cruise industry moves as slow as their ships. This hit right before their peak season for this year. Trips are usually booked a year in advance. They might lose over two years.
PLUS the key demo for cruises are boomers. Younger generations don’t want to be trapped on ships. So with covid killing their target demo to boot the growth here will be limited.

The only exception I can think of is the Norweigan cruises because it’s used as transport due to their god awful coastline and road network. Their oil rich state might intervene to bail them out plus their future demos are better due to the transport angle.

Bottom line; there are much better cheapies that will turn around faster.
