I live almost next to a hospital in Noord Brabant. Several family members work there. The ICU is full of people on breathing apparatus. This isn't some stupid meme. The disease is real and very infectious. China is lying about their numbers.

Do you understand the purpose of the shutdown? It's not to really lower the number of infections, it's to slow it down. Even if you don't die, infected people often need prolonged hospital stays. The shutdown is meant to slow the spread and "flatten the curve", so that there are only ever so many cases at one time, stopping the healthcare system from collapsing and potentially killing more people (what you see to some degree in Italy).

It is going to be much worse in America. We are going to have younger people dying in higher numbers due to poor diets and heavy meds. NY is already having more deaths and higher infection rates.
