Add in that a LOT of houses owned by "boomers' are newer purchases with mortgages attached, and by the time their parents die off from corona, they may be inheriting a house that's underwater, that they need to dump, fast, to get out from under - and the best way to dump a house fast is to drop the price.
Housing won't be impacted until later this year. It's gonna get UGLY, if a large pool of the elderly die off. It's going to be anyway, because a lot of them are paying off mortgages from 401ks - which got wrecked last week. IF the virus doesn't kill off a huge swatch of elderly home owners, most of them are gonna sell to move in with their kids/family, or the kids/family will be moving in with them. Things are going to go back to normal. We had a huge bubble and now it's popping. Notice how the financial crisis only lasted a few months before it started to recover...it'll do so again. It'll be slow at first but it'll accelerate in a few years. Maybe even more if Trump wins again, businesses love him after all.
I wouldn't buy now, though, I don't think it's sunk in yet just how deep the crisis in China really is just yet. Infections there were and still are much higher than the numbers China is reporting and the West hasn't seen the full extent of the outbreak just yet.
