Everybody keeps yelling about how premiums are too high and yada yada and oh no IV crush and all this other bullshit. Just shut the fuck up, grab your wife's boyfriend's wallet, and put some fucking money down on puts.

I have done nothing besides buy SPY puts on pumps or green days for the past month and my account has exploded upwards, I suggest you do the same, COVID-19 is only going to get worse before it gets better.

PLUS, Congress isn't even in session until the 23rd, so no stimulus this coming week.

TL;DR: SPY puts 10/15% OTM at least a month out to be safe from a bounce.

>“It’s in these times of crisis that Californians are at their best, coming to the aid of those in their community who are most in need. Food banks provide a critical lifeline for families, and are needed now more than ever. Families across our state are suddenly losing work, and millions of Californians most vulnerable to COVID-19 are staying home to protect their health and the health of others. The ridiculous length shutdown response models are basically what you're asking for. There's not enough testing capacity to go around so you just try to starve the virus into a small enough population that you can maybe purge it the rest of the way with testing+tracing+quarantines. If you miss some or it slips back into the country, you try to kill it while it's manageable and if you fail you quarantine SOONER for a shorter duration and try to purge it again once levels are low enough.

Shorter shutdown models basically just say fuck it to trying to get rid of the thing before the vaccine drops. They just shut down whenever its getting bad enough until it is back into manageable levels and then open up again until it gets bad again while using testing to slow it down. Basically the same thing as the prior, but you just assume you wouldn't get it all so you buy yourself a few extra weeks of having shit open.

Shortest shutdown models just involves letting a set % of the country get infected to build up herd immunity and then shutting down to drop numbers again. As each time you do that it takes longer to get back to the same % infected you quickly slow the virus and stay open much more than the other models...but you kill half as many people as the worst option.

Worst option is the let it all burn. No shut downs. Anyone dumb enough to be out and about or let someone into their home that wasn't immune didn't deserve to live anyway. Knock this shit out in 2 months.

Trump should've locked down the whole country two weeks ago, but there's still time to prevent a complete catastrophe if he does it next week. We can cap the peak number of active cases at say a couple million, which is a lot worse than China, but at the end of the day it means maybe an extra 50K old people die this year, half of whom would've croaked anyway.

Like the other posters said, repo is not printing money, and other countries around the world are also doing this ZC and trying to devalue their currency against the dollar. Also, Zimbabwe’s currency does not have the same role the USD does.

Most of the world’s business contracts are written using dollars, so one needs dollars to honor their contracts. In effect, that means the party on the buying end of the contract is short the USD, and has to buy USD to fill their end of the contract. So there is plenty of demand for the dollar.

I Xi’s strategy actually didn’t work, and now they’re just going to get wave after wave of infection slowly rolling through the country, it may actually be better not to do that, and to let it infect who it infects until there’s a herd immunity. Or something. There’s just too little we know about the virus and about how the infection is actually playing out in China.

>Xi’s strategy actually didn’t work,

Look like it worked to me. I'm not saying the virus is eliminated in China, but they seem to have it under control. There will undoubtedly be local outbreaks in the future, but they seem equipped to detect that and respond quickly.

The critical issue is to not overflow hospital capacity. If we just let it run wild until herd immunity is acquired, there could be >10 million deaths since that will require >200 million cases. We have maybe 40K ICU beds available in the entire country right now.

The best solution is to lock down the country for a month while mass producing tests, masks, and ventilators. Then ease the restrictions in conjunction with mass testing + mandatory quarantines, like they're doing in Singapore.

if by close you mean exercise then the price must reach the strike price and the cost of premium before you profit, this is the break even price. if by close you mean close your position, you can sell it at any point in which the premium is higher than what you paid for it

You might imagine the mid high IQ person as the average college student who shows decent cognitive abilities yet is destined to a life of mediocrity and just following along whatever paradigm is taught in their respective institution. The mid high IQ person is capable of processing enormous amounts of boring yet complex information, spending their entire life in the same repetitive job purely in the expectation of some future reward, if they just keep towing the line. While they are more aware of the world around them than their precursors, mid IQ people are completely incapable of offering any worthwhile solutions outside what is already known. Rarely found outside the center of the political paradigm, the mid IQ person is reluctant to believe in anything that is not strictly documented, while taking no vocal position on anything as they believe in the tantrum of the third way which they mistakenly perceive as being woke.

Fuck I misread. No you can buy the contract at whatever the price is listed on the ask. The further the strike is from market, the more varied it becomes. If SPY is 205/OTM and you're getting a 200, then you pay less than if SPY was at 195/ITM and you got the 200 because of the $5 ITM market price being baked into the contract. If you're getting a 200 SPY at 200, then hypothetically the price = time value premium.

I knew too and I still managed to lose money bigtime. The people who made fortunes lucked out with how sudden and intense the drop was. This was a completely abnormal crash, really like nothing we’ve seen before. And I hate to say it but there’s more pain on the horizon. There’s no way to know if it’ll be quick like this month or slower and full of Retracements like a standard crash, so I’m sticking with inverse ETFs.
