Not the American oil economy, ofc, but everyone else might just have decent enough margins as a result as to not completely collapse.

You guys realize cheap oil is tesla's death knell right? Why pay the preium to drive an electric when oil is cheap? Oil investors may be getting screwed but if its marketdly cheaper to stick with a combustion engine forever, then electric car manufacturers go down with them.

What's bad for the producer is good for the speculator my guys

On crude storage and oil futures instruments as per wikipedia
>The concept started to be used by the oil traders in the market in early 1990.[2] But it was in 2007 through 2009 the oil storage trade expanded.[6] Many participants—including Wall Street giants, such as Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Citicorp—turning sizeable profits simply by sitting on tanks of oil.[5] By May, 2007 Cushing's inventory fell by nearly 35% as the oil-storage trade heated up.[5]

Unironically look into hydrogen oxygen fuel cells. There's still some kinks t ok be worked out with regsrds to storing the hydrogen since it either needs to be super pressurised or super cooled, but a hydrogen car itself has all the benefits of pure ev but none of the drawbacks

I’m actually in this industry and the problem is largely infrastructure. It’s easy enough to build fuel cell cars and to make hydrogen, it’s not so easy to build the entirely new infrastructure required to distribute it. I’m thinking if oil stays <$20 for long after the virus situation stabilizes I need to look for a new job.
