I dropped 15k on a programming bootcamp lol; I graduated a few months ago and then this happens. The past week or so ive totally stopped practicing programming, I mean...I dont know guys. I sort of like programming but at the same time that shits tedious as fuck, and if everything is going to shit then I probably wont be able to get a job period (let alone in tech) so whats the point of studying anyways? I dont know, I know that I should keep studying and polishing my programming skills but I just really hate the idea of doing something that might ultimately become pointless. Ill probably continue studying programming on and off just for fun but im not going to entertain any ideas of being able to get a job as a junior dev in this new reality. Any other anons in a similar position?

imagine dropping 15k on programming bootcamp. anyway, done is done. tough luck. hope youre not in debt. dont worry though, computers wont disappear anytime soon. even if we go into depression mode. electricians didnt disappear because of the great depression.

You'll probably need to build your own projects in the meantime as part of your portfolio. Also try to monetize them.

both of these things are true, but in the short to medium term I think im fucked. My reasoning is that im a programming newb; once this recession/depression hits full swing there are going to be a glut of programmers. Obviously experienced programmers are gonna be at the front of the line for whatever meager job offerings there are going to be. Im not saying getting a job will be impossible but it will be significantly harder than it was before (which was still pretty difficult unless you knew somebody)

There is a lot more flexibility and freedom in that career field if you have the creativity. Maybe Trumpbux will turn into UBI and you can work on your own projects.

I applied to FAANG a couple of days ago and got an interview scheduled no probs. Things are slow but not dead and they'll pick back up again shortly don't worry.

Just be happy that you have a skill that will be needed in the future and not a boomer with no technical skills in a legacy job thats about to become obsolete due to automation and digitzation.

Im probably a brainlet myself but Im still astonished by how many people know all about consuming technology but dont know shit about how to use tech to their own advantage.
