Doesn't Link going up also imply ETH going up?

>> No.17941858

Eth holders didn't have a parabolic breakout model of an altcoin like we do. Different challenges.

and ETH goes up because BTC goes up.

So you are saying that my ethbull is bad decision?

No.

Long term, there is only 2 kinds of cryptocurrencies that will have values :
-Refuge value
-Utility tokens

BTC, being first, is the refuge.
ETH is what developpers are building things upon.

LNK is just an add-on for people to build things on ETH, and is way more speculative. E.G : if gas price for ETH tank, LNK value tank, but not necesarilly ETH itself as long as the minting per second doesn't increase.

cont

Basically if you go long in crypto and believe it will have value because people are using it but don't have the time/knowledge to buy shares in crypto companies, ETH is the safest bet.

If you believe that BTC is gonna be accepted by the US govt due to it's 100% tracability and ease of being taxed without any way to hide it from the IRS, you can also diversify with BTC.

Only buy LNK if you think that that an accuratably calculable fine is better than regulation at punishing market manipulation that would dwarf the fine.

You realise that chainlink is simply a smart contract on the ETH blockchain right ?

If ETH goes to 0, LNK goes to 0.
If ETH goes up, LNK goes whatever.

If LNK goes up, it has no impact on ETH
If LNK goes to 0, it has no impact on ETH.

LNK is basically pegged on ETH failure, but not on it's success.
Moreover, it's making the assumption that "decentralized" oracles middleware are gonna be more valuable than cheaper, centralized oracle.

ETH has value because it is public, immutable and irrevesible executable code, not because of some "decentralization" which only exist as a technical requirement for the chain to work.

If you are a company selling your product, people put their trust in the service and value you can provide them, and the fact that your "records" (the blockchain) is public and working in a clear way is just one part of the equation.

Cryptokitties without a website to display them and trade them have no values. You are also trusting the company behind the product to not suddenly change the pointed contract to steal all your ETH in subsequent transactions.
It's the same problem with decentralized oracle : Any value oriented company selling a product wont be using them, or they will create their own, because ultimately the oracle is not the weakest point in the trust in the product.
