Just be a rich foreigner and buy multiple houses and re-sell them to other rich foreigners looking to get in on the action as well.

It's just that simple

not sure what you mean?
I make just shy of 145k. Generally I trade US equities because they have more volatility, but currently there are some good deals on Canadian equities to scoop as well.

Investorline. I tried Wealthsimple Trade too because muh $0 commissions but there's a 15 minute delay on price updates (basically the same as other free stuff like Tradingview) and they don't let you hold US currency which is retarded. You pay CAD/USD conversion fees on every trade with US equities. I hear questrade is pretty good but I mostly just went with BMO for the support.

>>17923355
idk what that means, I just deposit some into different accounts from my paycheque.

>> No.17923638

>>17923541
it looks like it has a range, I never took a hard look at IB desu. the max of 0.5%-1% a trade could be costly though in some scenarios. I bank with BMO though so transfer of capital is really quick to investorline.

The only reason Canada exists is because some countries can't get visas to the USA so they import them to Canada to depress wages there and get extremely cheap workers.

>> No.17923690

can i trade with a TD TFSA in Canada? or what should i do to capitalize on the corona crash?

>> No.17923767

>>17923690
if you want to HODL long, a TFSA is a great way to avoid the tax man. Buy now (or wait a little longer if you want) and hold for a few months or more and your gains will be tax-free. You can hold US equities in it too, though there is some with-holding tax (15%) applied to dividends. Appreciation in price though is tax-free.

If you want to do short-term trading, like buying and selling in a time frame under a month, you should just use a non-registered account or you risk having your TFSA lose its tax-free status.

>> No.17923835

>>17923767
What if you trade infrequently in a TFSA, like 1 position a month then dump back to passive indices
Still fucked?

>> No.17924001

>>17923767
sounds good, ill probably go with a TFSA then. maybe later ill get into short term stuff.

>> No.17924025

>>17923835
CRA's rulings are a bit arbitrary and case-by-case so I wouldn't try it. Anything that's held short-term would be kind of suspect, like say if you swinged a stock over a week. In general what makes them take a harder look at you is:
1. Are you basically doing this for a living?
2. Are you trading the same stocks over and over just to swing/day-trade price volatility instead of HODLing an investment?

Capital gains in a non-registered account isn't that bad, it's a 50% inclusion rate (so 50% of what you make selling gets added to your annual income for tax purposes). However if you're a clear pattern day-trader then the inclusion rate is 100%.

>> No.17924300

>>17924025
Uh oh.
I swing trade in my TFSA when I see opportunities, hopefully they don't come after me later...

>> No.17924419

>>17924300
if they haven't caught you now (assuming you've been at this for a few years) you might be fine. If you start making alot of money though doing this they might review you after you file your taxes.

Is fidelity a good broker?

>> No.17924910

>>17924827
being a part of ontario's tech scene I can say that its probably because most of the tech companies here do B2B. Beyond some stuff like North and Blackberry there's not a lot of companies that go direct to the consumer. For example my company has won several big accounts with some US companies and we're getting a lot of $ for it, but generally they keep us off their press releases and distribute our product themselves using their own branding.

It's fucking bullshit OP. This is why I am seething at the reddit wsb fags and the smg fags as well making all the money while us leafs trade shitcoin scams.

At the moment I don't hodl any shitcoins and Im margin trading btc based on what the Dow and US markets are doing.

But that pales in comparison to the $$ being made in this market crash.

IB has options by the way but they require 25k to trade I believe.
