It's only been roughly 1 month and the US economy has almost buckled under the absence of global trade, The white house is currently considering sending many Americans free money as a last ditch effort to keep the ponzi scheme afloat. The form of capitalism idealized in liberal heads exists as this free market system where bad performers die, but in reality the big performers are going to use their power to force the goverment to bail them out. this level of volatility in the market doesn't magically become permanent certainty because solutions exist. if things really do start getting better economically, it will be a slow crawl upward over the course of years with some significant intermittent dips
there are still economic/non-corona factors that are destroying the stock market, like excessive corporate debt/zombie companies that are bound to collapse, nowhere realistic to go from 0% interest rates, and conventional QE tools being rendered useless

Capitalism always relied on the State from the beginning. Free markets themselves rely on the State for anti thrust laws, because a truly and completely free market leads to thrusts and monopolies.
