ITT discuss ways to smoke out preppers.

>The prepper is a scared rat in hiding, hoarding trash and desperately clinging to every minute of their miserable life, as if it ever had meaning.

>finding a compound
The red flags will be fairly obvious. Look for houses with plywood on the windows or "looters will be shot!" signs.

>destroying a compound
The prepper's compound is a stationary target. Use this to your advantage. DIY ballistas and catapults can lob fire, explosives and diseases from great range.

>tear gas
Another method to remove the prepper without contaminating canned goods and other supplies is tear gas. It is very easy and inexpensive to produce. You can easily sap the prepper's supply of gas mask filters dry with very little effort. The prepper will have no choice but to vacate or choke to death.

IDENTIFYING A PREPPER
>precious metals
Probably one of the biggest red flags in identifying a prepper. Keep an eye out for what people are bartering at local markets. If you see someone trying to barter gold or silver, follow them. They are most likely a prepper.

Back to bull market in 2020 ins not realistic, even if we get analysts most agree it will go on for at least a year, we just had an eleven bull run with inflation, easy credit. The fact that there can be second waves of corona also will slow down the market even more, we are in for a depression never seen due to the minimum period of 3-5 months of almost no work and value being generated, trying to predict is a fool's errand , we will go down hard and fast thats the only thing the graphs show, when we will go up after fed 0% rate and trillions of inflation, be my guest to guess, no one will predict right

I present to /smg/ the I Ching reading for tomorrow's market.
Zhun - Beginning

Kan (Cloud) above Zhen (Thunder) below

Sequence of Gua: After Heaven and Earth have come into existence myriad beings are produced. These myriad beings fill up the space between Heaven and Earth. Thus, Beginning follows.

Decision:

The beginning of a tiny sprout.
Sublimely prosperous and smooth.
Favorable to be steadfast and upright.
Do not act lightly.
There is somewhere to go.
Favorable to establish feudal lords.

The moving line is the Fourth Six
Mounting on horses, still not going forward.
Seeking a union.
Good Forward: good fortune.
Nothing is unfavorable.

Commentary on fourth six
Here the story of the marrying maiden continues. In this gua the position of the maiden shifts from the second to the fourth place. She is much closer to her true love. The situation is favorable and the time is right. The Duke of Zhou says, “seeking a union. Going Forward: good fortune. Nothing is unfavorable.” But the maiden hesitates. The problem is that she responds to the yang element on the bottom. On the other hand, she is much closer to the yang element at the fifth place. It is understandable that when two yang approach one yin, the yin becomes confused. In this situation Confucius encourages the maiden, “Go ahead. There is light.” This decision is based on the structure of the gua. If one at this place proceeds, there is a yang element waiting. If she retreats, there are two yin elements behind. When one makes a decision, one should consider the most favorable position. The Chinese say, “A waterfront pavilion gets the moonlight first.” the message of this yao is that when one is in a situation where it is difficult to decide between advancing or retreating, one should adopt a positive attitude in approaching the light.

If we shelter and "flatten the curve" the virus will remain dormant and explode during the Winter. Watch what happens as China attempts to reopen. Contrary to what people believe, most of Wuhan has not been infected and is not immune. The best case scenario for the economy is every elderly corona patient dying without medical care in a way that will horrify the markets. More likely this will drag out into 2021 and you will find the bottom there in the first quarter. 2008 found the bottom in 2009

you might make 5,000$ tmrw, but you have the temperament of someone who will blow it the next day doing the same thing.

this is not Africa, you're of age, saving more than 500$ is not that hard... and blowing it on advice on biz shows further your lack of basic of potential to become rich.

Noob question:

It's crystal clear to me how you can net profit from a successful call option. E.g. You're able to then buy a share trading at $70 for $65, then immediately flip it for +$5 per share. Simple as.

But can you make net profit on put options? Or do they only serve to mitigate losses that you were going to incur? E.g. You're able to sell your shares that are trading at $65 for $70 each. But to hit the strike price and allow that, your shares have to drop below a certain value, so put options only serve to mitigate loss i.e. you can't net gain $$$ off them.

Please correct me where I'm wrong

It's just risky. If the market keeps going at the current rate, which is how options look like they're pricing, it'll be worse than the great depression in a few weeks.

Way OTM puts are basically betting on the worst/fastest financial crass in human history over less than 100 deaths.

Eventually the crash will get to retarded and all the cash from the buffets et al will flood in. I'd say if you're a bear wait till next week and buy short term puts which you can double up on during spikes of bad sentiment over virus news, but by 4/1 its probably over, we'll have priced in the death of the human race by thenat the current rate.

My thesis is that the market will continue to go down while the panic from the virus( and the liquidity/solvency issues it might cause) continue to rise. I don't know on what day or week this will occur on, I just know it will roughly correlate with the pace of increased societal disruption. I'm rolling high volume OTM index ETF puts (SPY, IWM, DIA) roughly a month out. My next target is 2340 (DEC 2018 lows), and if that breaks, my following target is 2128 and if that breaks, we could see 1600-1800. Once the market is down over 50% from ATHs, I will transition from rolling puts to purchasing dividend and dividend growth stocks with strong balance sheets.

I heard a rumor from my friend who works in finance at GE. According to him he overheard several executives discussing the fact that the very concept of a central bank controlling an economy through manipulation of a fiat currency was inherently flawed and nonsensical, and was implemented to maintain a charade that has been going on since the Nixon administration. Apparently not only America but the everyone modern world as we know it is built on sand, and we have distorted and destroyed our world in a maniacle lust for power. To right the wrong will cost billions of lives and reshape human history.

I agree with you. I'm not loading up either yet, except on oil, but that's due to it basically being as low as it could possibly go.

No one who like me thinks the CIA is probably going to remove MbS or bail out oil rather than give up US energy security/bargaining power is going to panic sell below 20% of their previous worth at this point. it is all longmen like me.

Stonks like BA, banks, cruise lines, these still have their fare share of opportunistic panic buyers/sellers to be eliminated before they may hit bottom.

My only position other than oil is to way OTM put the SPXS bear shares, since it will go down regardless with time of the market is flat, they were underpriced, and if there is a rally on the senate bill I'll make tons even if I get .40 cents for them.

ok say they cut them in half. 5% dividend.

also, the CEO said they'd cut CapEx before dividends for XOM. And they haven't even considered cutting CapEx yet.

XOM is going to batten down the hatches and ride this out. Cut in dividends - definitely on the table. But - say they cut them. 1) who cares? it's still 5% even if they cut them in half, 2) the CEO is trying not to do that, and 3) they aren't going to stay cut in half forever.

in my opinion XOM is a world class buy right now. i'm in, bigtime. gonna average down over the next 2 months.

Poll from Monday:

In today's poll, which was completed before the stock market plummeted Monday morning, voters remain positive about the U.S. economy as 66 percent of voters describe the U.S. economy as excellent or good. That compares to 70 percent who responded the same way on February 10th.

Despite that positive view, 57 percent of voters say it's very or somewhat likely that there will be an economic recession in the next year, and 39 percent say it's not so likely or not likely at all. This is little changed from voters who said 56 - 37 percent that a recession was very or somewhat likely in October 2019.

Anyone who unironically supports that is 100% establishment shill. CEOs make their money off their shares/dividends of the company they run because it's taxed less than a salary, and it's actually illegal for CEOs to give themselves unreasonably low salaries so they could pay less taxes.
