I'm an ugly person but I have never attempted any amount of self improvement because of the things that you have mentioned. You describe me quite well, maybe not so much about the looks part. You can do it buddy, I believe in you. But you have to believe you can achieve it. Your only goal in life for the day or week should be to keep your negative thoughts in check and start thinking more reasonable ones. This goes 24/7. If you start putting yourself down, stop the thought process by thinking something else, distracting yourself or whatever. That kind of thinking is automatic for you, and you will have to train your new thinking like a muscle from scratch. You are 100% guaranteed to have some train of thought were you devalue yourself some time later, but now you have a mission: to minimize it. If you get good at this, you will see that it is working and you should start being more positive.

Also, start working out, it helps a lot. For me, getting bigger and benching 100kg was very nice.

I could write tons more, but you know what to do, change your mindset. You will have setbacks, but let them pass and stay positive.
