Is it really worth it to get a degree, find a well paying job, saving up and buying assets when you can just become a criminal?

In my personal experience with a variety of crime the drawbacks are that the work is often dangerous, the associates nearly always unpleasant at best, the anxiety at times disturbing, the returns often slight for the time required, and the downside -- getting caught -- highly disruptive to a happy life.

But that's just me.
