17789724 No.17789724 [Reply] [Original]

Have you gone to a food store yet today? I went to do my weekly shopping after work and there is literally nothing left. People are freaking out after Trump declared a State of Emergency. My buddy who works in corporate of one of the local food stores says they're not expecting shipments of meat for another week. I checked all 4 of the food stores in my area and they are all EMPTY.

I should have listened. I should have prepped. And now I'm FUCKED.

I ordered groceries in bulk a week ago. And it was unrelated to the panic, I'm just a neet shut-in who hates having to go out to get groceries, it's more practical to have lots of stock for voluminous and non perishable stuff like tp and water packs, and it turns out ordering online in bulk ends up being cheaper anyway. Can food is such a meme though, tastes like trash, just go to the butcher, get meat in bulk and freeze it. Another superior alternative which normies don't think about if it were the apocalypse tomorrow are big bags of whey and oats.

It's because conservatives tend to be more logic based. They plan ahead, they think things through, etc. Way more grounded in reality.

Liberals are emotion based. Very easy to manipulate, no coherent moral framework. They are like a cult, truth to them is not something that is objective irregardless of where it comes from. Truth to a liberal is whatever their perceived authority tells them. Like late night hosts or their most trusted media outlet, whether it be Vice, Oprah, CNN or Jimmy Kimmel.

Hey my last post didnt go through or I forgot to hit post.

Apparently stores in my area are really crowded. This was mid day on a weekday at that. Jam packed parking, food supply likely low from what I was told.

>> No.17794490

I went to the store about 30 minutes ago just to check it out and to get a few more things, and it was pretty accurate, although the shelves weren't as barren as some of the pictures and it's not as bad as you might think. Toilet paper still sold out, no surprise, but now bread was completely sold out too. Thankfully I just bought some two days ago. There were only like 4 gallons of skim milk left too.

Lots of stuff had the "ideal" options sold out but you could still get it, for example "family" sizes of cereal were sold out but you could still get the normal sizes. Things like that.

It was also really busy considering it was midnight. Normally it would be dead but it was like it was 12 pm on a normal day.

Anyways, it wasn't too terrible yet. But you should probably go get shit soon just in case, don't be one of these in denial retards.

So did I, I just happen to know a guy in New England who refused to buy supplies despite my best efforts to get him to listen. We'll see what happens. Apparently he says he knows a guy if things go to shit but I'm honestly very skeptical of that, regardless of how rich or such this person turns out to be.

I'm a guy and I wipe too hard (teaching myself not too though not much success yet) so I take 3 sheets for the first wipe otherwise I'll finger my asshole through the paper and end up with shit under my fingernail. Next wipes are 2 sheets though. Triple layer TP if you were wondering. Could use advice if anons have any.. Having a bloody asshole is getting tiresome.

This seems to be the sentiment of a lot of my millennial and zoomer friends. Luckily I got my girlfriend on board weeks ago and my parents and brother are not retarded either. I dont know how people can see what's going on and not prep even just a little.

I know right? I mean damn, I told him maybe you should buy a few extra cans next time you're at the supermarket at the very least. But no... he wants to do things his way and just keep up his lifestyle. Dude's relaxed to the extreme, which makes me seriously wonder just how much he'll begin to panic when it all breaks down. There's literally nothing wrong with being prepared, even just a little.

Bottles water is incredibly cheap & on the off chance you need it but don't have it you're beyond fucked. A month's supply for drinking, cooking mostly dry food, & bathing cost like $30.

Why are people talking about this?

I worked grocery for a few years, I've seen this stuff first hand. I am not surprised or worried. More annoyed that everyone won't stop talking about this. Yes, toilet paper, paper towel, bleach, hand sanitizer, sugar, flour pasta, pasta sauce, popular cereal, milk, eggs, water, canned soups, and a few other I can't recall are gone.

These shocks only last a few days as the store can correct with following orders. As long as the warehouse is full and the trucks can move things will be fix by the end of the week. If those do fail then we can start getting worried, but not before. When those do fail then we just need to ration till it gets fixed, can't see it lasting more then a month given how many people want if fixed and how much money there is in fixing it. I admit the system is a piece of junk and should be radically improved, but don't understatement profiteering grocery chains to make it work somehow to get your money. There is also the national guard if it actually gets that bad.

I have about a week of basic supplies always on had which I rotate. It has been more then enough to buffer every major event that has hit me over the years. Admittedly I learned more from my work, but it not that hard. But people are stupid and freaking out, So I am expanding my buffer out to 15 days, not because I think I will need it to but so I have extra to bribe raiders to leave me alone when madness sets in before everything gets fix and they feel dumb for using an stolen tank to get a can of soup from me.

You either don't prep, do basic prep, or go full off grid.
This panic prep is just stupid, and getting on my nerves.

That's what I was honestly thinking. Just because you know a guy doesn't mean you're welcome in his house. Either he'll be turned away and break down, shot and die, or try to kill the guy just to survive and steal his stuff which is kind of wild to think about. I mean normally I don't think he's the type of person to go that far but he did say he's not going to die no matter what so...

Well whatever happens it'll be on him. He had all the time to prepare weeks ago and if he has to die or kill someone that blood is on his hands. (I don't know if he owns a gun and even if he does it's more likely he'll be shot by the other dude since defense is easier than offense.)

Just have a basic homemade filter (layer some finely woven cloths, possibly with some activated charcoal in a tube) and cook water. That or do the following ONLY IF YOU HAVE TO!!! :

Step 1: Find Household Bleach
It should say sodium hypochlorite 8.25% on the label. Do not use bleach which has perfumes or other additives.

Step 2: Find a Measuring Device
You’ll want to measure carefully so you don’t end up with too much or too little bleach. A medicine dropper is best. You can also use teaspoon measurers.

Step 3: Pre-Filter Your Water if Necessary
If the water is cloudy, filter it first. A camping filter is good for this, but you’ll still need to use bleach (or boil) because camping filters do not remove viruses. If you don’t have a camping filter, then you can filter the dirty water through a coffee filter.

Step 4: Add Bleach
1 quart/liter: 2 drops
1 gallon: 6 drops
2 gallons: 12 drops (1/8 teaspoon)
4 gallons: ¼ teaspoon
8 gallons: ½ teaspoon
Cloudy water: double the amount of bleach

Step 5: Let the Water Sit for 30 Minutes
Smell the water. It should smell slightly of chlorine. If it doesn’t then repeat the bleach dosage and let the water sit for another 15 minutes.

however you can get bleach-powder that stays good airtight for years and make your bleach as you need it.

Homemade filters are incredibly prone to error. If you don't know what you're doing you're liable to contaminate your water supply. Most people have never done this before & would be doing a test run during the crisis. Further, if you don't already have these supplies on hand it will likely cost more than a month's worth of bottled water. Further still, during a crisis every moment that you spend doing something is a moment you're not doing something else of equal importance. This is all assuming that the taps never get impacted, if they do your filter is beyond useless.

Its just the common cold guys the flu (influenza) has killed ~220,000 people so far this year alone compared to corona virus at a ~5000 people.

Just keep in mind everyone upwards of 50k deaths a year in the USA from the flu is business as usual its just rich people stealing from you in their normal 10 year cycle again.
