Because think of the boomers anon. Think of the bag holders. If we say there's 0 debt then there's millions of bag holders who were expecting to draw real money based on the hypothetical profits of the future. Especially pensions and retirement funds. If we erase all the "debt" aka the speculated amount of profit then everything will go belly up. The only answer is more debt.
