ECB meeting tomorrow. Any idea what will they announce (rate cut, investment, distribute money...) ?

My scenario is bull trap rally before meeting. Depending on the measures, dumping either during or a bit after the meeting. Because whatever they do it does not stop a virus.

I believe the pre meeting rally is a good entry point for bears.

Over $132 billion just for the overnight repo. Another record.

As a reminder, before the markets started crashing the Fed was trying to stick to its story of
>We'll only need this until April!
>We're rolling back the liquidity and lowering the cap of repo operations
>See? Repo is contained!!

They had previous lowered their repo caps, but now that everything's crashing Powell turned on a dime again and INCREASED the overnight cap from $100b to $150b and the 2-week term cap from $20b to $45b. The banks and other players in the repo market have called their bluff in a big way. If this continues the Fed will be forced to capitulate completely and start full-on QE that nobody will be able to deny anymore. It's either that or let the repos fail, the effective funds rate spike like it did in September, and the market seize up like it did during the GFC.

The next 2-week repo is tomorrow morning.

Suncor has assets up the wazoo, a fucking alpha tier CEO who knows the business, and enough political clout with Canadian pols to have government backing if everything goes to shit. Suncor will never, never, ever, ever, ever go under because of Putin & MBS's lovers quarrel.

This is not a get rich quick scheme for me. I'm long BULLISH on North American oil. Sure we got some dirty hippies holding up our pipeline, but once the oil money slows and all the brown niggers in Ontario stop getting their bennies, the pipeline will get approved.

Threadly.

>it's just the flu bro!
Seasonal flu mortality rate is 0.05% while corona-chan's is over 1%, corona-chan is no less than 20x as lethal as the flu. Corona-chan is also far more contagious
>it'll stop spreading when it warms!
Flu is exceptionally seasonal, it's R0 in winter is ~1.6 and under 1 in summer. Corona-chan's R0 is over 3 now (already well outside of flu season) and estimated to still be over 2 in summer, so while the speed of spread will slow, it won't be stopped.
>it only kills old people, let's just ignore it!
While CFR increases exponentially with age, it still has, and will continue to, kill & hospitalize the young and healthy. Moreover, the CFR is >5% for 60+. What's the average age of Congress? CEOs of Fortune 500 companies? Both over 60.
>b-but treatments are just around the corner!
No. A vaccine is a year away at least. Antivirals don't work unless given within the first few days of infection, given the incubation period antivirals will be all but worthless. Monoclonal antibody therapy will be more effective, but is 6m out until trials, and still won't be very effective in advanced cases, indeed, Regeneron appears to be targeting their treatment as a prophylactic, probably mainly for healthcare workers treating infected.

>UK biotech Tiziana Life Sciences says its TZLS-501 may be of use in treating coronavirus

>UK biotech Tiziana Life Sciences Plc said Wednesday its TZLS-501 treatment could be used for patients with the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and are at risk of respiratory failure. The company is accelerating development of the treatment with Novimmune SA, a Swiss biotech company. "Tests have already shown that the treatment rapidly depletes circulating levels of IL-6 in the blood," the company said in a statement. "An excessive production of IL-6 is regarded as a key driver of chronic inflammation and is believed to be associated with severe lung damage observed with COVID-19 infections and acute respiratory illness." Shares were up more than 300% premarket. The stocks of many small biotechs and medical device companies that have made announcements relating to the virus have rallied hard as the illness has spread around the world, even though experts caution it will take a long time to develop treatments.

>Pandemic bonds
>First allowable payout is march 24th

W-what? Im reading about this now, so the earliest they can release the funding based on a 12 week pandemic time criteria is March 24th, are they trying to contain the panic until then so they can access 400million in aid to combat the virus?

What will that get you? Its going to cost much more just to contain New York for one work day

I'm getting out if it reaches Monday's close. It's enough for me. I can barely function because I'm glued to my charts from opening to close and then some more for the futures. Hodling inverse leveraged ETFs is nerve-wrecking as fuck.

Tomorrow I predict a big bull trap around that meeting, it will be another good entry point for bears.

ATTENTION
Can any anons ascertain as to why TMF (20+ year treasury BULL etn) would be DROPPING?? Doesn't make sense to me. I looked at charts on FRED and compared to DOW, and it seems that there's a massive fleeing to the safety of government bonds (parabolic) during the steepest of drops of the market, but then right before market bottom everyone flees the government bonds [and I assume they return to other stocks]. Point being: IMHO the time to flee bonds is not nearly close. Likely peak fear of virus, or peak fear of economic collapse.....which may happen 1-3 months after peak virus fears. What are your thoughts?

The big risk for bears is a fast tracked medication that prevent contamination or cures severe cases.

As soon as the virus threat is dealt with I believe the markets will recover sharply even if the economy takes year to actually recover to pre virus numbers.

As long as western governments main focus is limiting economic impact instead of stopping the epidemic, we can continue to dip as cases keep increasing exponentially. I believe peak panic will be the quarantine of one or multiple big city like NY, SF, London, Paris... We already have Milan but Italy is not as relevant economically.
