Hey Biz I have an actual question.

Since many stocks are dropping 10-20% and all people are panicking hard right now, I was wondering what would happen if things REALLY started to drop.

I am talking like 90% drops. What would happen if the Dow Jones dropped 90%? If Tesla dropped from $600 to under $100??

How would the world be in that scenario?

That means companies stocks would be worth way less than the actual physical value.
So a lot of bankruptcies, buyouts, etc...

Pretty much, you'd see a lot of bankruptcies, though I think at least in the US, you'd probably see bailouts of some industries. That being said, the masses are already shitting themselves about the idea of corporations getting bailed out AGAIN. This is why Trump is floating a payroll tax cut, even though it does fuck all for folks getting fired or not getting hours because of Corona-chan.

First of all, all US indices have limit downs that limit the DoD declines of the market. As such, I think it'd be highly unlikely that the markets dropped 90%. Many investors, myself included, would be buying assloads of stock on discount.

Fundamentally, the US economy is strong. We're just ending a debt cycle, so over leveraged corporations will begin defaulting because they can't rely on selling their own stocks to get cash on hand to cover their debt payments.

A lot of people would lose a lot of money, not just traders but regular people too, thanks to the crash's ripple effects on the global economy. This would be a source of great stress for many people, which in turn would ruin more than a few marriages. The divorce rate would increase. A lot of the newly divorced 30- and 40-somethings would hit the bars, looking to drink away their problems, hoping to make a connection with another human being or maybe just score a rebound. And I would be there, watching them pair off and awkwardly flirt. Watching them stumble off at the end of the night to have drunken, uninspiring sex. It's possible that one of them might even approach me, I'm not that bad-looking and I started working out this year. But I would politely decline. I'm not really interested in hooking up. I just want to watch.
