What is the ideal amount of supply for a globally adopted cryptocurrency? 21 million, a billion, infinite with low inflation?

>> No.17586046

It should be a binary number, much larger than the total global population.
Total global population will easily hit 10-15 billion, so there should probably be around 100 trillion total supply.
The nearest binary number would be 2^47, which is ~128 trillion.

For the sake of nice units, we'll call one unit a cent, with 128 cents per coin.
There would therefore be 2^40 total coins.

Inflation is a retarded concept. Why do we need to print more money?

I agree, just trying to pick your brain. I've heard people mention how gold's inflation rate is ideal, for instance.

sit in on an econ 101 class once in your life...
deflation is good for dumb people that are bad with money and wealth management for a little while then productivity tanks and everyone gets fucked. inflation is not a problem unless you are too retarded to invest savings in inflation proof assets.
now wipe that shit off your face!

in a healthy economy, the money supply increases at pace with the increase in productive capacity, as a means of staving off both overheating or deflation

If BTC were to be adopted, it would be not much different than the petrodollar since most of the hashing power is concentrated in a few countries.

no you have to be not an idiot that's all. i have lived through 40 amd 50% yearly inflations for a long while and my experience was simple
life goes on people adapt in 2 weeks and slightly alter their habits for spending and saving.
inflation is completely irrelevant. deflation however kills investments lending innovation productivity after a while the economy and eliminates wealth when scarcity hits.
