Can someone explain why the hell an exchange token would be valuable? Why the hype? The only reason it pumped is because it got put on Coinbase pro... obviously

well one aspect is that kyber has optional accounts that allow limit orders on chain, and having knc in your wallet gives you lower fees. they can implement other benefits, or take this away, and you can do limit orders on uniswap for free using certain front ends. the main value driver is that it is being collected as fees from the liquidity providers, and burned, so it is deflationary and in demand at any price as long as there is volume. not a bad model, probably overpriced at the current price IMO, but of course it could trade higher in the meantime.
