>The fundamentals of the U.S. economy remain strong. However, the coronavirus poses evolving risks to economic activity. In light of these risks and in support of achieving its maximum employment and price stability goals, the Federal Open Market Committee decided today to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/2 percentage point, to 1 to 1‑1/4 percent. The Committee is closely monitoring developments and their implications for the economic outlook and will use its tools and act as appropriate to support the economy.

99% sure the fed is creating volatility in the stock market to distract retailers from bitcoin's halving.

>b-but the crypto market is so small

yeah well you gotta plug any leaks. lots of money left circulation in 2016-2017 and they stand to lose a lot more in the years following the halving.

if you consider wall street a trillion dollar business, which it ultimately is, they've gone largely uncontested for years, working in tandem with international markets. however, the true threat has emerged and I believe that's why we've seen increased volatility across the stock market. the stock market went from being stable with 3-5% gains being god-mode days, to now rampant 15-20% days for individual stocks on the regular. there's a non-zero chance they analyzed what lured retailers away from traditional markets in 2016-2017 and realized it was insane volatility that turned heads, so why use your competitors advantage against them during their most anticipated year, the halving?

even more ironically is when the repo efforts will end: weeks before bitcoin's halving and right before Q1 earnings, which stand to be abysmal due in large to supply chain disruption from china and the coronavirus

the timing is absolutely fucking impeccable

The only thing they can do if you believe in this that is, is pump the ever-loving shit out of the markets to dwarf any bitcoin gains. Its the only way to entice the masses away from it if anything happens

what a coincidence that it went up 5% one day before such a decision after it fell like a rick for a whole week.
let me tell you that if you buy now you buy the top and get dumped on hard. but the market seems to understand it since it reqlly refuses to go up today
