>"Gavin Andressen lives in Amherst near me and I met him many times at meetups. Gavin was absolutely firm that Craig was Satoshi so it never really occurred of me to doubt it until I met Nick Szabo.... he was absolutely earnestly trying to persuade me that Craig was... I dont even want to use the ugly words he employed!"
-George Gilder

Why is Nick Szabo going around desperately trying to persuade people that Craig isnt Satoshi?

I'm pretty sure the real Satoshi would have better things to do with their time, no?

In fact, Greg Maxwell and friends were complaining about this just 3 days ago on reddit. He never rescinded his claim; if he had we would know about it.

To be fair to Nick, nobody knew Bitcoin was TC at the time until Craig announced it at that very panel.

Sure, to the extent that they thought it wasnt Turing Complete. Craig was the first person to say it was.

>there still is no definitive answer and alot of people argue over it.

Yes there is (see: https://www.mdpi.com/1999-5903/11/8/170).). The people "arguing" it dont actually have any real intellectual curiosity on the matter, they just want to prove Craig wrong.

BTC was the best and only thing Satoshi ever created. Get this through your fucking heads. Everything Satoshi ever did or ever will do is BTC.

It doesn’t fucking matter what Craig says, does, thinks, etc. for the rest of eternity. If he actually is Satoshi, which I earnestly think he is, he has nothing left to teach us or give us. He might as well have died after creating Bitcoin. It literally makes no difference whatsoever if he’s Satoshi anymore. Feel bad for all the suckers who keep falling for his shiny new ponzis. BTC is the only thing that matters, not Satoshi.

here is a small problem with your little bullshit
if bitcoin was turing complete you could write a smart contract that uses it's balance as a counter and fee and count down to 0 without any outside interference from an external turing machine.

the other issue is any turing machine can emulate any other turing machine so if bitcoin is turing complete you could run javascript apps on bitcoin and even the javascript interpreter itself. but you can't.

it's all on-chain, as I've been pointing out to you for a long time now; the only thing that must necessarily be input from outside the chain is data about real events, naturally, which is the role of oracles like WeatherSV

>Why would Nick care though
It's not complicated. Nick is a nerd and an idealist. He fundamentally believes that life is supposed to be fair, that good ideas will triumph over bad ideas, and that lies are inherently weaker than the truth, that liars will never prosper long-term. He worked with a number of other people developing bitcoin, and they all idealistically agreed not to publicly claim credit, because doing so would threaten the decentralized nature of the network and possibly their personal security. Bitcoin was never supposed to "belong" to any one person or organization, and everyone involved in developing it was content to set aside an enormous fortune and significant fame in order to protect the network. And they managed to persevere and get the network running successfully, despite the fact that for years no one in the mainstream understood what they had created and wrote it off as a Ponzi scheme, a scam.
So it fucking hurts to see some drunk doofus with a smirk on his face successfully saunter into the space, take a look around, and start fleecing all the plebs not once but twice, making obscene amounts of money and shamelessly taking all the credit that you oh so nobly refused. It runs counter to how you think the world is supposed to work and it suggests the fact that despite its apparent success and mainstream acceptance, for most people your life's work, bitcoin and crypto in general, may never be anything but a get rich quick scheme.

no you can't write a stateful self driving smart contract on bitcoin blockchain (nor on any shitforks for that matter) bitcoin simply doesn't have that capability by design.
