How come every Christian person I know are apologists of capitalism? Nothing about the character of Jesus Christ is compatible with the "muh judeo-christian values support free markets" meme.

Jesus’ teachings are instructions for how we should live as individuals, not a system of government. Charity is encouraged, but it is hard to argue that paying taxes for social programs because you are forced to counts as a good work in the name of god. It’s fair to argue the hypocrisy in applying biblical teachings to social matters such as gay marriage and abortion but not economic matters, but not fair to expect people to apply biblical teachings to law at all. It’s also disingenuous for non Christians to argue from scripture when they themselves lack faith.

Here are the facts about Christianity and economics:

Jesus hated money lending and Jews involved in it so much he fashioned a whip and drove them from their temple

Jesus encourages investment and even has an entire parable where a slave is punished for NOT investing wealth given him by his master

Notice the difference:

Investment aligns the incentives of the money giver and the money receiver: they both want success of the project

Lending (an evil Jewish trick) depends on enslaving otherwise free people with debt. This can only be moral if you believe others to not be equal (as the jews do)

This is specifically a charge to apostles, not because he loves distribution, but because the apostles need to give up all to follow him.
