I really enjoy AMC and over the Summer I was seeing some Tuesday afternoon showing of something or other solely because I had the AMC a-list subscription which gives me three tickets any movie any showtime each week for $20 a month and I noticed a whole bunch of other solo-flyers who probably also were there on the subscription many of whom had purchased popcorn and sodies and I thought to myself "man this is a business that is doing it right" so I went online and saw they had this incredible dividend of $0.80/share and I told myself I'd start buying once it hits $8 so I did that and I also kept buying because the govt axed the law that prevented studios from owning theaters and at similar $$/screen rate as recent buyouts that values AMC shares at $22-24 per in case of acquisition so there is a lot going on here and I also just really enjoy movies thanks for reading.

Sometimes the problem IS the dividend but rarely

okay

so you like the idea of a subscription based model. not a bad take, but you should realize that as far as subscription models go, streaming services like netflix are far more successful.

that aside, it seems like your main draw was for the dividend. also not a bad take, just a bad stock pick. cut your losses if they're not too deep, then slowly add other stocks that have a dividend and also have potential for growth, or at least a more solid business. my suggestions: AAPL, MSFT, JPM

My concerns are over longevity of inversed ETFs performing. The market could show a 3-5% return real quick at the release of some news. I am not confident enough that I will be holding these positions for more than a year so, even though the taxes might suck, its better than a complete loss.

the greatest thing that can possibly happen to our economy right now, unironically, is a flu-like disease that kills 40% of the population over 60.

every single problem with the financial system in this country is exacerbated by boomers making things infinitely worse. every single financial policy in this country is enacted specifically to aid boomers at the expense of every other generation. wealth moves from our pockets to theirs. think fed moneyprinting - who is that designed to help? yes, it helps the yids, but mostly it's for boomer 401ks and to pump up the equity in their shitty houses.

ain't gonna go on forever. not here.

there certainly is an end in sight, no matter how long. stocks only go up. the ones that go down, well, let's just say we get NEW stocks that behave and go up.
but the effects of coronavirus are only really starting. CDC said no vaccine for at least a year. if coronavirus doesn't magically vanish in the heat as some like to think it will then we will have to contend with a year of effects.
i think if coronavirus vanished today then yes we would be back in a few months.
but it's not.
and according to everyone who isn't chinese it won't.

but yeah it will go up again. i'm not super bearish either: expecting effective treatment within a month, vaccine in about eight months, and then a 3-6 months recovery in markets.
but that's assuming none of our lies catch up with us somehow regarding our economic infrastructure or capacities. that's what i'm worried about as others are. not the virus, but the ripple effect that will uncover something to make markets even MORE spooked.

The firm's research found the majority of asset transfer outflows came from U.S. large cap equities and target date funds, while the majority of inflows were into stable value, bond and money market funds.

I was bullish on this news at first. But Monday and Tuesday Look like they were a wise time to sell.

the only thing that could give bernie anything other than yet another L in his illustrious career is him following the trump model and going fucking kamikaze against his whole party

but he wont
hes too shellshocked from 4 years ago when he ran against the most unpopular democratic candidate to ever walk the face of the earth, while simultaneously having an unreasonably large grassroots base, and STILL lost

its like people dont remember 4 years ago or something
do you honestly think the democratic party would let that retard win?
they fucked him right out of it last time, and people said there would be riots.
nope
no riots
in fact plenty of his "base" didnt even bother to vote in the primaries. or even better, were registered independent and COULDNT.
the democratic party would MUCH rather lose to the don again, and just complain about it in the news for another 4 years, than have bernie be their guy.
and they will do whatever possible to ensure that.

in spite of all the cock and ball torture in the media from the left, the actual democratic party gets on just fucking fine with his administration.
they gave him another gorillion dollars to give to israel every year (with plenty left over to build the wall (which he wont cuz we need the cheap labor and warm bodies to give more loans to cuz millenials are all maxed out)), helped him to de-regulate wall st (nancy is a fucking degenerate long options gambler just like the rest of us), renewed the patriot act (an odd thing to do for someone who is, in their words, a """"ruskie puppet"""")

Only holding MRNA at 22 and GOLD at 21 with 30% of my portfolio. The rest is in cash. This market is kind of insane right now.

I'd might move if the US didn't provide so much. Shoot. I still might. This QE needs to be reversed.

I hate being so new to investing. Everything is fucking opinions, I can sell now and get ducked buying back in when the market goes back up or stay and get fucked as we rank harder.

Is the always buy never sell actually a true way to go?

The place that I built is, I'm not always there. It ruined my relationship and the process took me years longer than it should have. Having to deal with contractors doing the things I wasn't legally allowed to build myself was a nightmare and my resale value is almost the same as if I just bought a place anyway.

based on several studies online, models show a fatality rate of 0.1%, its not that bad. 1 in one thousand people will die from this initial mutation, i dont think ive even met one thousand people in my life. Your going to be fine

Now they say the virus mutates, but i think thats just fancy talk, all viruses mutate with time.

Crab market for the next 6 months afterwards

this is my favorite link to post when people talk about single digit mortality rate: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/18/coronavirus-kills-chinese-film-director-family-wuhan-covid-19

All four people in this guy's family died. If the mortality rate was 0.1%, then the chances of this guy's entire family dying would be 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 (one trillion).

If the mortality rate is 2%, the chances of this guy's entire family dying would be 1 in 6,250,000.

If the mortality rate is 20% then the chances of this guy's entire family dying would be 1 in 625.

This guy's family must be fucking LUCKY!

bros, I have some UVXY calls i bought, exipiration is Jan 2021. Bought them so I can short UVXY when shit hits the fan, but did not realize how much it's decays over the time. If we go more and more down, is it still gonna go up? It's lower then VIX at the moment, which I find strange as UVXY is 1.5 leveraged, so i would expect it to make bigger moves relative to VIX. Can anyone try to explain this to the brainlet please? Basically, I'm asking if it's technically possible for UVXY to still go to let's say 50+ if the market is going further down or I should use this opportunity and sell the options (I mentally written this position off as a loss because UVXY was very close to the split but I'm sort of break even now). T-thanks frens
