How long until mass hysteria and minor economic collapse?

>B-b-b-but... Only 2% death rate...
15% death rate among at-risk patients
>B-b-b-b-b-but it's only in China
60 confirmed cases in the US, and the first case of unknown origin confirmed today. This means that it has most likely spread EVERYWHERE and the chances of it being a pandemic are now almost positive.

Make sure you have water bottles, water purification tablets, and canned food anons. Stay inside when possible and avoid any public events.

>> No.17472014

Last 20 hours Norway has gone from 0 to 4 confirmed cases and over 100 people quarantined while they wait for the results. Who knows how many they've infected. I don't think this has reached any English speaking news yet.
An interesting timeline.

>incurable
Wrong word. The common flu isn't curable as well.
Flu has a preventative vaccine tho, coronavirus doesn't yet. Might take a year or so to make.

>> No.17472241

It's exactly like SARS but more deadly and more contagious. It cannot be cured meaning even if the symptoms go away you still infect healthy people who are old or young that are at risk and have not been infected. It also is very silent as people don't start showing symptoms at least until 5-7 days on the short end if they have really bad immune systems and up to two weeks on average for a regular immune system. That means testing people's body temperature won't be effective like drumpf is doing at major airports. In short USA and every country in the world is unprepared for what's about to come and they are trying to calm the herd before people start panicking and the market crashes.

>> No.17472252

Anons, how can I further prepare for this? Stores are still full, aside from masks. Tell me what to buy.

10x the death rate of flu at ~2% fatality, and that's going by forked Chinese numbers. Also even though the fatality rate is supposedly only 2%, the serious complication rate is like 1 in 7 and can fuck people up long term, maybe for life. People are having to take AIDS and cancer drugs at the same time, get intubated for weeks at a time, go on oxygen pumps, and there's evidence of permanent damage. Theoretically it might cause fertility damage in men as well but that's only based on animal studies using similar viruses. Regardless, the just-in-time supply chain meme is done imo. Estimates are thar Chinese industrial output is down by at least 50% and will be for the near future. Will take months if not years to recover.

>> No.17472340

>R0 of 4-7; seasonal flu is 1.5 (this is more contagious than smallpox.. except we have a smallpox vaccine)
>10-20x as lethal as the flu by conservative estimates (.01-.02% vs 2% general population, 11% boomers)
>certain countries already have a higher lethality rate than what has been reported

3M masks with P3 filtes, Should cost at max 50$ from amazon with 6 pairs of filters. For 120$ you can buy a Propylene Glycol Water barrel, 55 gallon drum fill it up with tap water and either boil it or use a sawyer water filter. As for food stock up on non perishables like peanut butter, rice, onions sauce, bbq sauce, spam, Chili and things like that. For fire use a ferro rod and have a trusty rifle and ammo.

problem is how many cases? if we're talking 30-60 million in the US, then 2% might result in over a million dead. going by SK and cruise ship numbers, i'm hoping it's only 0.5-0.7%. dunno. just random n00b guessing.
