How is it NOT possible?

Someone or some entity is accumulating. You can tell because they are having trouble keeping it down while they load up. It explains the recent pumps and cool off periods the past few days. This is just a testament to how much available link is actually on the marketplace right now. No one is selling. Just imagine when staking is released and even more tokens are locked down.

This is true.

why accumulate through binance? can't a big player get LINK OTC from the team somehow?

They are getting it everywhere they can. A couple somebodies are getting it.

You’re right

I don't think so. Those tokens held by the team are for large companies and players that are actually going to contribute and use chainlink. Everyone else has to fight for the ~350 million tokens or whatever on the open market. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here

Bought $50 in what I thought was my local currency only to get a notification that I actually spent $50 USD in LINK.

Basically correct
350mm for core partners who make the project a success (the logos on the slides)
350mm general public
300mm for loss leaders that incentivize the networks growth (early price reference feeds etc)
So really us dirty plebs could get 350mm plus whatever the early node operators decide to sell to fund their operations, which since they have a significant information asymmetry vs us is unlikely to be much
