17421795 No.17421795 [Reply] [Original]

In an interview just released on CNBC, billionaire financier Warren Buffett reiterated his long-held position that cryptocurrency has no intrinsic value, and made clear that he would never own any. Buffett insisted that Bitcoin serves no real purpose, which is why it has not achieved mainstream use.

he also said he would never buy tech stocks. He just stays away from things he doesn't understand or care about. Wow so smart, it's like common sense.

That's because the US market opened and everything shit the bed.

But he's not really wrong. It's a ponzi scheme at the moment. Bitcoin is never going to have a value proposition the way it's going, now that they want the digital gold narrative. Ethereum has a value proposition long term if smart contracts and defi succeed. But they are only succeeding now based on rampart speculation in the defi space. Insurance is promising, and it looks to come online in the next 1-3 years. The value proposition for cryptos is very small currently.

Isn't he like 89 years old? Since his life expectancy is like 4 years, it's not like this is much of a declaration beyond "I don't own any crypto right now".

>>17421819
The crypto market is (and always has) been closer to "greed" than "fear". Except maybe during the 2018 crash.

>>17421832
It's not like he'll benefit much, if people use banking. He only owns a small fraction of total banks. If he was trying to sell something, you'd think he'd bring up Wells Fargo, or similar.

>>17421844
He doesn't. The media just likes asking him questions, because it gets view/clicks. See: this thread.

>>17421851
>He just stays away from things he doesn't understand or care about.
He's definitely saying something stronger than just "I don't understand it". He thinks it's worthless.
