17375660 No.17375660 [Reply] [Original]

Told my dad (who is a CFO) that I bought Tezos and Chainlink. Said “if either one blows up even 1/3 as much as Bitcoin I’ll be a millionaire”
He started laughing at me and said “don’t hold your breath, you’re more than likely going to lose all of it”.
Who is in the wrong here?
Will I get the last laugh?

You, for telling anyone about your buying crypto.

Almost certainly.

Based. Only talk to boomers if they are asking you how to buy in, and you feel like they deserve it.

My dad has more money than I will likely ever have and has decades of expertise in investment. I trust his advice. He’s not the kind of person who is going to try and mooch off me, ever. I’m still mooching off him actually

The first rule of investing/trading is to never trust anyone.
Younger brains are more elastic and open to new technologies/change.
The older you get the more out of touch you will be with the new generation and the less you will want to change your world view.
Those who will invest heavily in crypto is the new generation while the older generations dies of.
It makes no sense to ask for the advice of someone out of touch with innovation when he is not the target of the new technologies.

He is right 100% but either way you get the last laugh because even if you lose everything it's still his money you're leeching off

"don't hold your breath, you're more than likely going to lose all of it" what part of this statement is false; yes there is a chance Tezos or Chainlink or even both moon and you become rich as fuck but there is also a chance that either one or both fail due to regulation, competition, incompetency, scandal, or any number of reasons. If you are truly being objective about this it is probably more likely they fail than succeed to the point of mooning (even if it is 51-49)

the crypto market is inherently risky with a lot of manipulation and fraud (just look at the kleros threads) not to mention legal and regulation questions looming large. A boomer CFO/portfolio manager who is handling millions or even billions of dollars can't take that risk but if you are a trust fund baby with a safety net why not throw a couple thousand or so for a chance of +1000x return

he is laughing at you because your investment philosophy is based on nothing but hopes and dreams, "if either one blows up even 1/3 as much as Bitcoin I'll be a millionaire" sums it up perfectly. Imagine if one of his employees came up to him and wanted to invest 50% of the company's cash into LINK because of that, he would get fired on the spot

You are you fucking autistic spaz, Chainlink is absolute dogshit and is only being pumped due to autistic and speculation, there isn't a single fucking real world example in use except for a fucking price analyzer you could easily do with json for free.
