Only have about $15K in physical...
The rest is VZLC (Certificate for physical silver) and some other certificates.

And yes, I know it's not optimal, but at that amount it's just too complicated to get the physical thing, it's also better from a tax perspective in my country.

>> No.17315651

>>17315445
VZLC is backed by physical silver, it is not just a certificate which tracks the price that carries credit risk in the same way as other certificates (typically issued by banks in form of long/short positions as an IOU).

As I've said, it's not optimal but there are several benefits:
1. No price premium that bullion stores usually takes, usually 10 - 15 %.
2. No VAT (25 % where I'm from)
3. High liquidity and easy to sell
4. No worry about physical storage and theft risk
5. Again, better tax benefits from gains due to tax regulations in my country

VZLC is the most popular certificate for physical silver outside the US and the have regular audits.

The benefits outweighs the risks in this case.
Prove me wrong and I'll consider dumping it and buying more physical.

Alright silver bros I need help understanding something. I just bought a Canadian 1oz coin and it says "5 dollars" on the front. So I look it up, and it actually is legal tender worth $5.
So here's my question:
1. Can you go into a bank and ask for your paycheck in silver $5 and then immediately sell for ~$20
2. How the fuck does something represent a value lower than what it's made out of

>> No.17317392

>>17317304
1. 5 dollar = 5 dollar, some coins and bank notes are worth more than they should but never less. If silver falls below $5 you can still buy $5 worth things for it. But no, bank will not pay you it's silver value, other people will.

2. Banknote signed by elvis is worth fortune, but you don't expect bank to pay extra.

Canadian mint buys silver at spot price from the chart, makes coin and sells it more expensive with premium.
It makes them money, for example $3 per coin.
People want to buy investment silver from sure place. Canadian mint is sure place to buy silver from, much better than some random company selling silver rounds like in pic.
