It isn't silver, but it was recently proven that there is a design flaw in solar panels which cause them to lose upto 2% of their power generation ability when cold. Additionally, over time this same defect also causes degredation over time of the efficiency so on a positive note this will help solar panels appear more desireable which should increase demand and therefore silver use.
