asian stonks anon reporting:

asian markets, manipulated or not, have completely recovered. coronachan has been priced in a couple of weeks ago. I though I'd open in red today, but the stonks actually went up again to hit ATH in some cases. It's all bullshit. I mean, it might not be bullshit, but it won't definitely affect markets in the short-medium term.

Not yet. I've been using (((etoro))) for a while and it's okayish but pleb-tier. Fees are high despite what they say, they're not explicit but built into the spread and it's kind of steep. Having said that, the ease of use is definitely attractive. I tried Interactive Brokers recently and the interface is HORRIBLE. It's touted as the best online broker out there, and it might be, fee wise, but the web interface and the trading app is absolutely dismal, it seems taken out of a horror film from the 80s. I'm still keeping that account open though and use it for long term positions. I'll use etoro for swing trading or semi-long holds.

They say degiro is good but I haven't got the chance to try it yet.

if you mean "at least 50% of all factories in mainland china have at least some amount of production" then that's a pretty easy claim to make... if you mean that their production is back up to any reasonable level to carry on with "business as usual", then I don't think we're at that point.

From what I understand a high VIX means the market is fearful while a low VIX means that a market is optimistic and careless? So the best time to make a major investment would be when the VIX is very low.

I can't call out of work and skip class every time she has an impulse to do something. If she wanted me to be in her life she would message me when she doesn't need something. nah
you shouldn't be too concerned about timing stock purchases based only on VIX

first of all, the VIX index tracks the overall forward implied volatility of the S&P 500 for the next one-month and two-month futures contracts (something like that).
Everything has volatility! there is the overall broad-market volatility, and then individual sectors and stocks have their own volatility, and will have different volatility measures for different time periods.

high volatility really means that investors are willing to pay higher premiums on options. Not necessarily fear or complacency, those are just the "sentimental" effects people like to discuss. It's really about higher premiums.
VIX spikes at the beginning of big, fast declines. But in the general sense, it isn't a quantity that will let you know if the market is going up or down.
The "best" time to buy options is when you think the the market is underestimating future volatility: if you think things could drop a lot, but the market is placid (low VIX), it can be a good time to buy options. ;^)

>> No.17296795

>>17296591
VIX is an estimate of forward volatility in the markets. If the VIX goes up by 5% that means that your portfolio could go up or down by 5%. So theoretically your risk just went up 5%. Of course VIX goes up and down all the time based on international events and news etc so don't obsess over it. Just keep it in your mind as a measure of volatility and therefore risk

>> No.17296818

>>17296591
VIX is an average of IV on an OTM sample of rolling 30 day SPX options meant to represent what what the implied 12 month 1 s.d move is for SPX. For example, if VIX is 15 there is an implied 68% chance the S&P will be between + / - 15% in the next 12 months.
In essence, it's a point in time measure of risk appetite since option prices (specifically puts) will get bid up on risk off days. However, over the past few years instutitonal put selling has become very popular on down days which can suppress put prices and thus VIX if it's widespread (which won't lead to a VIX blowup - unless you get a huge move that causes a lot of short covering on all these short gamma trades).

>> No.17296827

>>17296758
no
low VIX means that the options/futures markets THINK that things will be stable for the next couple of months. that's all really.
it does NOT imply undervalued or overvalued

you can think about it this way: really there is an upward IV (call premiums) and a downward IV (put premiums). those show the market's probability pricing envelope around short term upwards and downwards move, taking into account past volatility and upcoming events (earnings, cataclysms, etc.). the place where you find good options value is when the market is wrong in how it's pricing things.

You can construct a share-trading system that uses volatility signals for buys and sells, but it's going to be much more complex than a simple "buy when VIX is low/high" kind of thing.

Already posted my portfolio which started this whole thing because you refused to post your own and decided to double down on lying. They weren't even good lies either, there are children with a better ability to produce fabrications.

Was all your lying worth it so you could gain at most about a few dollars on SNSS? No one here can take you seriously anymore, you're the biggest faggot ever to visit this place, which is saying a lot when LCIguy is a full blown homosexual.

My lies were a mistake, no question, but they really weren't severe, and frankly your accusations that I lied to make more money are laughable since, as I said and still maintain, you lack the financial weight to pump SNSS and pumping it was never my goal in the first place, since I am in this for the long haul. It just beggars belief that you would think that.

As for not trusting me? Well, that's you. Seems there are plenty of others who don't share your view, so I'll stick around, and you can just keep wasting everyone's time bitching about every little thing and providing nothing of merit or use to anyone.

If you were to the point where you were lying about the numbers of shares you held so you could entice other people to place large bets on SNSS, there are undoubtedly dozens of other fabrications you've come up. They were not white lies, it was a deliberate attempt to profit off your shilling.
>pumping it was never my goal in the first place
That's bullshit because you basically treat it like a full time job, you're constantly shilling it. No normal person, even one with serve autism would talk about SNSS this much unless they weren't planning on profiting off the advice given. This is the reason why you're pumping a meme bio-pharmaceutical stock instead of something with a large market cap.

but they went up leading up to the approval thing, right? that's usually how these biotech stocks work. people/tutes buy in before the "event" and then sell off once it spikes up. dumb retail is left holding the bag because they get in AFTER the news, when the rally and spike up was already pricing in the good news.

"it's priced in" is one of those things that really crushes noobs in the markets, especially in biotech. it was one of the first trades i ever made (SGMO) and i barely got out with a small profit of a couple of grand (small because i had literally all of my money in it through DCA'ing eventually), and i lost like half a year waiting for the next catalyst after buying in at the top of the first catalyst.

i feel like there should be a meme term for this, but it's the classic "BUT THE NEWS WAS GOOD, WHY IT GO DOWN???" situation. happened with ONTX recently i believe.

All programs I've tried so far (Filmora, Avidemux, VSDC, Shotcut etc etc) either don't recognize mp4 or can't export the edited video as mp4 without upgrading to a paid version. My price prediction is $3+ by May.

As for why to buy, I have a copypasta.
SNSS is currently in their phase1b testing of Vecabrutinib, a BTK inhibitor that can treat people with CLL mutation (unlike it's competitors) and has significant value as a combination therapy with broader BTK inhibitors. Vecabrutinib was created by Biogen before BTK inhibition was proven to actually work against hematological cancers, and sold to SNSS for unbelievably cheap. Their 400mg cohort data is coming in Q1 2020, and their 300mg dose data showed near theraputic levels of BTK inhibition, meaning their data this time is likely to show tumor reduction and at least partial remissions. Other BTK inhibitors have shown massive value recently, like ARQL being bought out for 2.7 billion.

well again: 1) i don't know shit about SNSS specifically, nor do i give a fuck 2) pretty much every penny stock is down like that, that's the whole point they're shit companies, and 3) it still doesn't matter since you're buying now instead of 94% ago. and what happens from this point is either it passes the trials and moons or fails and crashes. any meme penny stock you invest in should be based on figuring out whether it will pass or fail, and ideally you should buy fewer shares considering the volatility.

generally the way i look at it, if you played penny stocks properly instead of YOLO'ing all your money into them, you should always go long on them and if their drug fails you expect to lose around 25-50%, but if it is successful you expect to make anywhere from 100%-1000% gains. so in theory the odds are actually really good if you can do the proper fundamental research, which is why i usually suggest diversifying your meme portfolio instead of putting all of your eggs in one basket. one of them succeeding can easily overtake many failing. no one likes that because it isn't "sexy" though i guess, but it's true.

the idea is that you do your DD and discover that they're not as shit as everyone thinks they are. and if you go short and they do moon you could lose 1000%, while your maximum upside is if they go completely bankrupt and you just get 100%.

it's like you don't understand odds or something. my advice is don't trade shitty companies to begin with, avoid penny stocks, they're cheap for a reason imho. but if you WERE going to trade them, that would be my suggested strategy. if you short a penny stock you're just begging to get turbofucked if they moon, the downside risk is literally infinite.

This may sound stupid but how is crypto different from gambling? The only real crypto is BTC, as it is actually used.
The other cryptos are just based on other people buying them, driving up the price, and you gamble on jumping ship before others do.
Noone will accept Hitlercoin or whatever, the price is only going up because others buy in, because they think other people will buy in.

It does not seem to be backed by anthing, like a stock is backed by a company.

Sure. We also had big zeppelin factories and top hat makers who all faded into obscurity.
That does not mean that Apple pay will fail. Just like a success has nothing to do with Ford being a successful company (once).

So far I see no argument against Whatevercoim being a meme scheme with no real world applications in the forseeable future.
4/5 coins will see success, the rest will fail. Hell, most businesses have problems setting up mastercard. No way they will allow some shitcoins in the near future. BTC and ETH or so being the 4/5 exceptions. Maybe.

it gets old after awhile. the big thing for me is what their angle is. tutes are smart and aren't bothered by FUD on internet forums, and retail can't actually move price much. but that doesn't stop them from trying.
