didnt watch the video but here is the tl:dr on how gains can be taxed:
1. Business income - if you're day trading your income is taxed in full, so for 2019 if you made 100k then your taxable income is 100k.
2. Capital gains - if you investing and held crypto/stocks etc for their long-term capital appreciation and sold them for a profit, half of that profit is taxable. So 100k profit would mean your taxable income is 50k.

It can be a fine line between what is day trading and capital gains so DYOR.
