What I think is the following: If they would strictly hire competence then they would only get the best talent, which is mainly male.
But because it is known that 20% of the people do 80% of the work, they rather hire diversity and women to look good publicly and to avoid getting called out as racist or sexist.
Not saying that every women is useless, but most are. A lot of men also have no idea about what they are doing. But I would say the average skilled person is white and male.
And what is also a thing, is that this behaviour can be seen mainly with big companies.
Why you may ask? Well it is easier for them to employ another 100 useless shitheads and just increase the price of whatever they sell.
That´s also the reason why you won´t find this bullshit at startups or smaller companies.
I know a few guys who studied and work at some world wide operating companies and I heared several times, that there are so many people just producing no output at all in their department and that at least 25% could be fired and nobody would notice.

cal states offer online degrees. They are well known. Prestige is bullshit but in the same time, it is good to know that a school is reputable.
They let you do the degree from anywhere. They have limited degrees though. You should ask the specific school about out fo state fees (which may not be a thing if it's online). They also have lower barrier to entry for online degrees (basically accepting anyone).

That said, college is scammy due to the unreasonable cost combined with the shit job market. I personally hate the idea of joining the military mostly because I dont like the lifestyle change it would bring, but if you think you wont five one single fuck about that, I dont think its the worse idea. Again, only of you dont care about the lifestyle change. My personality type isnt suited for "changing myself to fit someone else's mold".

Also, nurses make a SHIT ton of money even with just a 2 yr degree (more like 4 years. 1 yr for prereqs and 1 yr for waiting list) BUT that's only in metropolis cities (like LA). Outside of metropolis cities, they want a 4 yr degree.
