Seriously, what the fuck is taking so long? I can fully understand not allowing NEET nodes yet, but staking should be feasible. Is it not in the benefit of the KYC'd nodes to have more collateral available for jobs?

>> No.17207671

presumably staking is being developed for viability on a private testnet that will be grafted into the wider network once the parties involved are comfortable with its operation

Staking is useless if there aren't NEET nodes, you brainlet
If all the nodes are trusted, verified, KYC'd providers, there is no need to staking/reputation/penalty, because it is assumed that they will all behave appropriately

Clever anons will become stupidly rich, between staking a part of their Link, and swinging a few dozen at a time when the price routinely drops a dollar, then $10+ dollars

>Calling me a brainlet without even understanding fundamental token usage.
I'll be kind to you, even though you were rude.

Each node needs X amount of LINK for collateral, X being dependent on the jobs they're taking on & the value of those jobs & therefore collateral required. A node needs LINK whether it's KYC'd or not, trusted or not. Therefore, at a certain point, every node will presumably want more LINK so they can take on more and/or larger jobs. There is no downside to having additional LINK on your node, only upside. Most KYC'd nodes will ultimately allow staking, hence why LinkPool already has all their tech set up to do so (as do several other KYC'd nodes). Hence why Coinbase will eventually operate a node with exclusively staked from CB users LINK (no personal risk).

I hope you understand this now, but if you don't, just don't reply, because anything you say will be stupid.

What's the point of implementing staking if there are no customers because public blockchains aren't secure and private enough yet you doofus, they're unproven, and so many other reasons, can't scale, regulatory obstacles, too expensive, legacy systems too slow to transition etc. Do you think adoption will magically appear out of thin air because you staked some made up internet tokens in some Jason Parser node lol. Right now enterprises are only using centralized dlt like Corda and they don't need oracles.

There isn't any demand from smart contracts for data from Chainlink though. What's the point of opening staking if people would just get about 0.1% roi a year, if even that.

How many calls happen every day? How much LINK per call? It's probably under $100k and the nodes making a piece of that money have no reason to get extra links from the public(aka staking) if the links aren't even needed in the first place. For staking to makes sense, we would need more demand from smart contracts and also competition between the nodes where one node will offer the same data, but will back it up with some linkies staked(meaning if the node gives wrong data, it loses it's linkies). Currently there isn't much demand for even basic 0.1 LINK off-chain data calls or whatever the price was.

Staking will come years from now. First they need to setup all these price feeds to prove things work. Then they need a proof of concept (the flight insurance from last week). Then they need to get the infrastructure companies involved (this year), then they need to bring companies on as customers privately (next two years), then they go big. I'm thinking Q3 2023 we'll see staking.

This network is going to handle a quantity of value most cant even comprehend. If even one little thing goes wrong, even while beta testing, it could spell the end as it would demonstrate the network is not secure enough to handle the load it is intending to lift. This needs to be executed FLAWLESSLY, or it will fail. This is why the team doesnt hype the project, this is why there are only KYC nodes operating for now, and this is why it took so long to get to mainnet. It will continue to take a long time, and continue to make consistent gains over BTC for every milestone it hits.

I would argue that they will unroll staking much sooner, but the catch is that all initial use cases of the LINK network will be low stakes. The reason why I think this is because the best way to test and debug the network is to simply use it as it was intended to be used, you cannot fully debug a test network, or beta network as opposed to a live network.

kek there's already countless projects using oracles in production, Maker, Augur, etc....

None of them use Chainlink, and never will, it's vaporware.

That's why there's no staking, BECAUSE NO ONE IS USING IT. Staking would only expose that the network has zero real usage, hence why they'll never release it.
