And to answer your question, I have a bit more and I’m a bit younger.

It’s far from made it to me.

It’s not enough to buy a house even. It’s literally like one year of salary.

But, at the same time the only way to get it to a point where you can say you made it you’ll need to keep it in high risk assets. And a fucking 20% swing in the wrong direction losses you $20,000 and puts you below six figs which mentally sucks.

Someone in this thread mentioned gold and silver. Strongly agree. This is what keeps your inner baller that made the money in the first place from gambling it all on dick coins and losing everything. Gives you a fall back with solid annual return for the coming 5yrs atleast

It only insures up to $250k, so you'll need a HW eventually. I recommend Trezor.

Just make sure to use the passphrase feature, otherwise the private key can be extracted if the attacker has the physical device (this goes for all hardware wallets, not just Trezor). The passphrase isn't stored on the device, and that's why it prevents this attack.

True. I'm actually going to move most of my funds over to a paper wallet for this reason.

The way I'm going to create my paper wallet is to roll dice for each character of the private key, then download three different pieces of software that derive the address from a private key, Then I'll disconnect from the internet, use each program to derive my address and make sure they all match, then write down the address, then restore my PC to factory state.

The hardware wallet is not connected to the internet, so hackers by definition cannot access it

The private keys are permanently on the hardware wallet, when you set it up it instructs you to write down your secret backup phrase ON PAPER. Don't use a computer unless you enjoy losing everything.

I won't get into the details too much, but basically the hardware wallet stores the key in a special chip and only sends out signatures when you plug it in to make a transaction, the keys never leave the wallet.

One of the biggest advantages of crypto is you are your own bank, you control your keys and coins, you have the power. Don't let them take it away from you.
