Just buy and hold index funds. If you want tech invest in a NASDAQ fund. If you just want to enjoy compound interest invest in either a total stock market index fund or an S&P 500 index fund. Also look into real estate (or REITs) as well as dividend stocks and precious metals (if you want to go long start buying silver). If you want crypto just invest in Bitcoin (BTC); 2017 will look like chump change compared to its potential - you haven't missed out yet.
