I think they're smart to remain anonymous, because it adds to the concept of Bitcoin being truly decentralized and unstoppable. It started anonymously, and there's no way for an individual to seize control (or relinquish control to another entity).
Satoshi's anonymity is genius, and the fact that they still haven't stepped forward after ten years makes me think they understand the power remaining anonymous has bestowed upon Bitcoin.
