Because people are waking up and realizing two things.

1) Ethereum is here for the long term as the dominant smart contract platform.

2) A truly trustless bridge between Ethereum and Bitcoin chains is technologically impossible.

Thus, if you want to store value on the Ethereum chain using a scarce, mineable currency, 0xBTC is the only option. As prices rebound and crypto usage enters a more professional stage, as we're seeing the beginnings of now, this will only get more obvious.
