Besides growth 2 huge reasons:
>To comply with SEC regulations
>To eliminate fraud attempts
Either of those would kill the project if not done correctly. The SEC has killed a few projects wanting to do something similar to Brave already, but they've done everything to meet the standards to not get whacked. Fraud detection speaks for itself. Either way it's not like BAT is centralized, once it leaves Uphold it's decentralized as anything else.

2) I believe the BAT ecosystem relies in part on people supporting content creators through BAT. I don't mind paying $10-30 to various websites/streams/etc. that I enjoy. I'd rather do it through BAT than have my browsing habits recorded and paid out to creators for fractions of a penny on the dollar.

Came from Eich himself. I can dig up the interview. I dont think it would destroy BAT at all. It will give people a lot more incentive to use the browser, opt in rewards, and be able to spend their other crypto in browser since Brave wants to go full E-Commerce in the future.

Coinbase was talked about being sometime this year. There's no solid date or timeline yet. We really need it so we can dumpster Uphold. I believe its one of the main things holding BAT back right now.
