Yes. But the system is like this man.
First generation of coders add value. Code base get huge. You hire second generation to do maintenance work. The first generation are getting paid more but are not adding further added value so you replace them with some of few second generation and hire third generation to fill the maintenance work. The laid off first generation were so specialized that they cannot find fitting job outside. You don't have to be >100 IQ to answer yourself.
Unless you have part time hobby projects you can't get job .
