I own a trezor model T, but ledger is good too. The most important thing is to always have your seed phrase memorized and stored in 3 different places. Alternatively get the words tattooed on the top of your thigh in a numerical row. Make sure to buy from the companies themselves, Amazon is the fastest way to get a hardware wallet from the companies themselves without risk of it being fucked with. You can get a trezor for 40$, they are really cheap.

the advantage of ledger at least is that your private key is never shared with your computer, whereas with a generic formatted USB you have to flash your private key to sign transactions
you have to press a physical button on the ledger device to sign transactions, whereas this hardware switch doesnt exist for private key hiding on a "regular usb"

Yep, hi there. I used old 2007 laptop with no HDD, booted Ubuntu Live from USB, used MEW offline to generate wallets, and stored private keys and JSON keystores on VeraCrypt USB as well as in encrypted file. Tested sending offline signed transactions with small amount of ETH, then sent my coins/tokens to it. Took less than an hour to read tutorials and figure out. Enjoy trusting those chink sticks retards.

The bluetooth and usb never transmit private keys. All that is stored on the device and computed there. The bluetooth and usb communication send signed transactions for the private keys.

The worst that could happen is a communication interception but even then as long as you check the address you are sending funds to on the device you are golden.

The nano x is the most secure because the private key is stored on secured flash memory unlike the prior devices.

Like a boomer i got a bunch of diff hw wallets for the tangible aspect. Turns out it just exposes u to more surface attack vectors, for instance if anyone gets a hold of ur keepkey they can crack it with a $100 device. What a load of shit! For small daily xfers i use a phone wallet and keep cold storage on cryptosteel split in diff locations.
